Found in the Inbox: DORO and Lemmy Share One Last Stage on “Love’s Gone to Hell
In this story
Doro Pesch has been called the “Queen of Rock & Metal” for three decades, and in July 2013 it became official: the Rive Video Promotion campaign for “Love’s Gone to Hell” recalls DORO receiving a first-ever Legends Award at the Golden Gods Awards at London’s O2 Arena.
A career in numbers
The campaign counts it out: gold and platinum awards for about 10 million records sold, more than 2,800 shows on four continents and in 60 countries, 16 studio albums, four DVDs and cover stories in every major music magazine. The DORO band at the time was Nick Douglas on bass, Johnny Dee on drums, Bas Maas and Luca Princiotta on guitars, with Princiotta and Harrison Young on keyboards.
Lemmy’s last turn
The Love’s Gone to Hell EP carries extra weight. It features guest vocals from Lemmy, the heavy metal icon, and the campaign notes it is one of Lemmy’s last recorded performances. Its advice to programmers was blunt: “this is an EP that you don’t want to miss out on!”
Why it was in the inbox
Two of metal’s defining voices on one record, released after one of them was gone, is reason enough to listen again.
