What it is: The Bronx Council on the Arts funds community-based arts projects in all disciplines, including music, through three funds in one application: Arts Fund (up to $10,000), Community Arts (up to $7,500) and New Work (up to $5,000). Funded projects must take place between January 1 and December 31, 2027.
Who it’s for: Bronx-based individual artists, unincorporated collectives or ensembles, and nonprofit arts organizations. Individual artists must be 18 or older, must not be full-time students and must have a primary mailing address in the Bronx; collectives need at least one Bronx-resident artist. Individuals and collectives seeking Community Arts support need a fiscal sponsor.
How it works: Apply through BCA’s Submittable portal by October 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Prepare proof of Bronx residency, a 100-word project summary, a project description of up to 750 words, a budget, artist and audience data, and up to 10 work samples. BCA runs free online information sessions and takes questions at [email protected].
Worth knowing: Projects must engage at least one segment of the Bronx community, for example through a public performance, a talkback or public involvement in the creative process. Grants cover direct project costs such as artist fees and marketing, not general operating expenses. Individuals without a fiscal sponsor can request up to $15,000 for one project, and up to $17,500 with one. Past BCA grantees must have filed their final reports before applying.
