My home-recording of this Danish sailor song.
It has been performed in many different versions, also under the name ‘Skipper og Jomfru’

English translation

A girl did wander by the sea’s white sand
A gentle maid
There she saw a ship that sailed unto the land
Beneath the billow blue, beneath the billow blue

“What bear you in your ship?” She asked the captain
“We have wine so sweet for a little maiden’s mouth.”

She tasted of the wine, and the wine tasted sweet
Then into slumber she fell, in the captain’s lap

And when they embarked on the waves blue
The lovely maiden woke from the sleep wherein she lay

You shall not return home to your father and your mother
Until you have a son, whom can your ship steer

Now lays the maiden on the bottom of the sea
Here she has a seaman kissing her mouth
