Crylord Confront Modern Warfare with Neo-Classical Firepower on “Birds of Steel”

On Birds of Steel, the sky is not a symbol of escape. It is occupied by machines. Crylord’s new album uses that image to pull neo-classical power metal into the anxiety of contemporary warfare.

The partnership continues

Due October 14, the album reunites Polish guitarist Boguslaw Balcerak with vocalist Mark Boals and drummer Rob Wroblewski. The trio’s collaboration follows 2025’s Lost Bloody Heroes, preserving the core identity they established while moving into a darker conceptual frame.

Balcerak performs guitars, bass and keyboards, placing his melodic, technically demanding guitar work at the center. Boals supplies the soaring vocal counterweight, while Wroblewski anchors the record’s shifts between power-metal drive and progressive scale.

Drones over the ruins

The title track imagines survivors in a devastated world as lethal machines move overhead. Artur Miłoń, who wrote the album’s lyrics and created its artwork, frames the “birds” as instruments of modern war rather than creatures of nature.

The image allows the record to address present-day destruction without attaching its message to one conflict. Ancient-looking ruins and contemporary technology occupy the same field, turning history and modernity into a single warning.

Twelve tracks without synthetic shortcuts

The sequence opens with “Walking the Edge of the Time” and “Follow the Moonlight,” then moves through the title track, the six-minute “Fate Worse Than Death,” “Rise of Immortal Soul” and the closing “Live Again.”

The release is explicitly presented as AI-free in both music and production. In a moment when synthetic tools increasingly enter the creative chain, that declaration becomes part of the album’s identity: a human-played work about technology’s capacity to overwhelm human life.
