New Interview with My Depiction
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
My Depiction: I’ve recently started using Twitter to promote my project. Exposed Vocals offers me a chance to share my goals and ambitions in the process of it.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
My Depiction: I’m a born and raised Floridian with knack to get shit done. Music’s always been an escape for me from the beginning. I hope my songs can do that for anyone out there with an open ear.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
My Depiction: My name’s straight and to the point. I know everyone’s situation is unique. I hope that whatever you’re going through out there, you’ll get your own depiction of lyrics. Coincidentally, that’s the name of my EP: Whatever You’re Going Through.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
My Depiction: Don’t give up. Remember everyone’s been told they can’t make it. Andre Harrell even fired J Cole before he made it big.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
My Depiction: You’re a liar if you claim perfection. Exposed Vocals, everyone’s human. It takes an experienced performer to make the mistake seem natural and keep the song flowing. If I act like it was supposed to happen, so will the audience… Hopefully (laughs).
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
My Depiction: Memories or current situations. Every song shares a unique experience. Either I’ve been through, or am close with someone who has. I’m able to put feeling into my lyrics even they mean something to me.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
My Depiction: I personally am not embarrassed of any music I listen to. It’s in my library because I enjoy it. As a musician, I’ve learned to appreciate all music. You’ll find everything from Icon for Hire to Tori Kelly there. Yes, people have tried to make fun of me for them. If only they’d just take the time listen.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
My Depiction: No question, I’d make a room in my house into a recording studio and just binge write music. This is my calling.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
My Depiction: I have everything I need instrument-wise: I rock a smooth Roland Juno DS88 and a sleek Novation Launchkey 61 mk2 to do my recording with. My room is filled with instruments, mics, and mixers. All I lack is to soundproof the room.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
My Depiction: I’ve found out the hard way that I can pay for all the advertising I want, but what really opens people’s ears, is good ol’ word of mouth. Think about it. If an ad tells you to check out a band, and a friend tells you he likes another, which are you likely to look up?
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
My Depiction: Tupac is a legend for a good reason. He’s my inspiration. I’d pick him, hands down.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
My Depiction: The world needs to hear the topic of equality brought up by a white man. That’s what my upcoming single will reflect on. Maybe then, people will realize it’s actually an issue.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
My Depiction: I’d be a nobody. Before my music took off, I was into telemarketing. Don’t get me wrong, I could make bank talking my ass off but I’m not about that life. Luckily I found my passion.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
My Depiction: Did we really have to go down that road? Everyone goes through this phases. Some are just worst then others. My first album was… Wait for it!… Nickelback – All the Right Reasons. I wish I knew what was wrong with me. Luckily I’m at better places now. I know, like Icon for Hire’s really an improvement right?
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
My Depiction: I’ve always been a go getter guy. But when I’m pursuing something I love, it’s that much easier; it almost comes naturally.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
My Depiction: None of that “new year, new me” bullshit*t. If I see something I want changed, I just do it. So I’m going to continue making music that makes you think.
