Exposed Vocals Interviews Trevon Bing

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Trevon: I grew up on the south side, south pole. Where it’s hot as hell. There used to be a lot of violence out here but we’re the shadows now. I started making music so i wouldn’t be such a demon and so that my brothers mother and sister can live better than how we were brought up.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Trevon: My name as an artist is Pain. I chose Pain because pain can and will always cause some sort of change in someone just as i will, have, and do. Also because pain is always different. It can be good or bad.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Trevon: I think online music sharing is an amazing and very useful way to get your music heard by a mass group of people being that everyone uses the internet now. I have a majority of songs out now on my soundcloud and other sites for free distribution but simply for promotional purposes. Things won’t always be that way.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Trevon: Never stop. Keep making music. It’s a trial and error type thing. People may not like the first ten or twelve songs you make but your thirteenth may be a viral video/song. Overall you just got to hope the people like you and your work. The fans opinions matter most. They make you what you are.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Trevon: I just write what comes to my mind. If i ever had a motivation it would be to obtain the things I’ve never had.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Trevon: I have a soundcloud ( Trevon Bing | Free Listening on SoundCloud ) and a YouTube account (https://m.youtube.com/user/TrevonBing ). I use those two sites mainly as well as twitter (@trevon_bing) and facebook (Trevon Bing). If any of my work is uploaded or posted somewhere else then it was by another person like a fan or promoter.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Trevon: I would spend that time spending that money to make more money.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Trevon: Every way i can. The internet, word off mouth, promotional shows/events, etc. The internet seems to work best for now.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Trevon: This summer my first ever official mix tape will be released called “FMF”. A couple of songs and videos this month just stay notified of my tweets and posts so you’ll never miss a release/event.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Trevon: If I wasn’t making music I’d be living my life doing whatever it takes for better or worse. Like I am now. The music only occupies at times.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Trevon: I just merged them all into one thing. In other words music is my life. If i need to remember something or calm down, turn up or anything like that then music is what i turn to first.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Trevon: Fans should look forward to “FMF” in 2016 because is my gift to them. Me saying thanks for the support and being there even though you had so many options.
