Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Travy Tre: I grew up in a small rural area called Wheelersburg, Ohio. I lived in a rather rich town despite the fact that I was probably the poorest kid that lived in the county. I love basically any type of music, but the one that catches my attention the most is Rap/Hip-hop. I started out rapping two years ago, but only free-styling. As I progressed, people kept telling me that I could do something with my talent so I started making music. I am also driven by the fact that I don’t want to be struggling for the rest of my life looking for where that next dollar is coming from like my parents have been doing their whole lives. I want to have a stable home once I get older and begin to start a family of my own.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Travy Tre: I came up with my name one day when I was sitting with a friend and he said, “Yo Travy…. tray.” Of course, at the time he was talking about an ashtray for cigarettes, and wanted me to hand it to him. lol

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Travy Tre: I love online music sharing because it gets you more recognized and lets a lot more people learn who you are and what you’re about. I always share my music for free because of that simple fact. (Also, at the moment I have no reason to sell it because only a few people would even know it exists)

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Travy Tre: I currently know of no local bands or artists from my area. The only other people that I know of that would want an opportunity to get a show would be the friends I’ve been freestyling with since day one.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Travy Tre: I usually gather songwriting inspiration by sitting down at my desk whenever something is on my mind and just writing about it. It could literally be anything, family issues, school problems, girlfriend problems etc… When I decide to actually write a song, I will listen to a particular beat over and over, while continuously free-styling to it until I have a bar that I think is sufficient to put into the song.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Travy Tre: No, I have no band website and I basically only use Soundcloud, facebook, and twitter to share my music.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Travy Tre: I would invest heavily into promoting myself, try to get a collab with a couple famous artists, and then buy a home so that I never have to worry about being kicked out of my own house if I were to ever struggle with money.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Travy Tre: Really the only way I have promoted my music is through soundcloud. I mean I’m currently looking to be discovered.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Travy Tre: I am currently trying to put together my first EP so that I can put it on Soundcloud to give my friends and followers a little more of the variety that I have when it comes to my flow.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Travy Tre: If I wasn’t making music, I would probably be out goofing off with my friends or be involved with some sort of sport. I was involved with some sort of sport growing up my entire life.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Travy Tre: Basically I spend my whole day going to class and working while at night I spend all of my time on my music life. I stay on social medias constantly following, liking, commenting, and messaging other artists to make my existence known. You can literally pick up fans from anywhere.

Travy Tre: Just keep an eye out for the rise!!!
