Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

 

 

The Mulb: I grew up in Zimbabwe in the city of Bulawayo “city of kings”.We been moving quite alot, as my family was building  a house in a town called Mahatshula North, so basically i got interested in music when we were staying in a town called Nketa, Visiting one of my friends house on regular basis i was amazed with what this friend of mine could do with Fruity Loops, so i downloaded a copy of fruity loops myself, back then i was around 15 years old and when i opened it! I had no clue were to start, so i stopped there for a moment then later on took it upon myself to google some tutorials.so as time went on  i had learnt the basics of fruity loops, so by that time most of my beats were influenced by Mikewill Made it mostly but mixing my low end  was a real struggle so now and then i would go to my friends house now and then referencing how my  beats sounded as to his, and his would sound way better so it pushed me to do more and more, at that time i did not really put it to mind to produce for an artist till i was around 17 thats when it really got more intersting because the very first beat i sent to an artist( P.O.Y) was recorded on that encouraged me to make more and more beats and so far i have made beats for atleast 4 well known artists(Young stan ,Mc Chita, Maestro Iv) you can find some of the tracks at my soundcloud profile

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

 

 

The Mulb: To be straight forward! i wanted a name that meant something  to me specifically ,one that would make me thrive more. so the name”mulb” comes from the first initials names of my whole family.OH and we are a family of 5 i share a name with my Dad, so yeah

 

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

 

 

The Mulb: I think online music sharing  has a great advantage for exposue for us upcoming music producers or any other artist however if you can  actually get people to listen to it because for me to be honest posting ,usic is the easiest part but the marketng part of it is hectic and very few listen to my stuff, but i have confidence Exposed vocals can get me somewhere.And yes  do give away free beats now and then just get more audience and becausethe genre i am doing is not established in Zimbabwe but its making its way up.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

 

The Mulb: To get airplay  first of all when composing tracks for an artist, think of the big leagues through the process, think of someone who is already established.  in that way you will make something so great that you are confident to approach any one of them in your genre and actually have them to record and possible airplay, and you have exposure. I myself am not really were i want to be so am just sharing my experince and my thought as to how you should approach you creation process.

 

 

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

 

 

The mulb: Simple, I listen to alot of music first of all so i get ideas on writing the melodies and how structer the beat,usually i get a song that i really like!, listen to it over and over again till i grasp the structure of the song, then use the same structure but create a different feel in terms of the groove/melody

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

 

 

The mulb: I do not have a website unfortunately but planning to get one if i get enough funds, so i share my music on Soundcloud and send some through WhatsApp groups and sharing links on twitter.

 

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

 

 

The Mulb: Wow!!! if i was Given Half a million!! I Would use it to Buy studio Equipment first of all Create one of the finest studio environment in Zimbabwe, most! ,if not some people who own some “studios” are very arrogant and unfriendly.I would build a studio were people feel at home you know,, theers alot of talent in Zimbabwe that has to be recorded in a properly treated studios.with the right funds i think Zimbabwe can compete internationally.most importantly make a living out of the studio

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

 

 

The Mulb: I must say i try my best to promote my music, as i mentioned before i give away free instrumentals just to get wider audience and try on twitter as well, now i am still trying to figure out the best way to promote it myself .but the best method of promoting one can do if he or she has the priviledge is to higher people who know how to do it Best.

 

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

 

 

The Mulb:I am currently working my way up to work with the likes of @TehnDiamond and Simba Tagz . Oh!! yes!! You are definitely gonna hear more of my products this Year, I am working with a very talented Vocalist @Vinnie_king28 you can find him on twitter, i must say i have enjoyed working with him too

 

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

 

 

The Mulb: I would probably Be sleeping during spare times LOL!!! yeah ,composing music has been my hobby since  15 . I make music almost daily.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

 

 

The Mulb: Balanacing Music and studying and doing other responsibiltiies is not easy, so i tend to prioritize whats really important at that particular time. but by all means try to put in time for music

 

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

 

 

The Mulb: Look out for @Vinnie_king28 Album ( The Full Package) Worked hard to produce some of the instrumentals there and hope they find them fun.
