Exposed Vocals Interviews Tatwo (Ta2)
Tatwo is a Nigerian music artist,His name is Idowu Omotayo. He started music officially 2013 and he has work with Davidlazzy and Ly chy. His music genres are Afro hip-hop, reggae, and R&B, his music style is different and currently working his way to the top music chart in Nigeria. he has recorded four tracks which are two full tracks and two mix-tapes.
Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Tatwo (Ta2): I heard about exposed vocals from a friend on twitter and he introduced me to the opportunity available on exposed vocal. I sign up because exposed vocal is an online platform to reach my fans all over the world.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Tatwo (Ta2): I grew up in Lagos state, Nigeria. I have a passion for music, I enjoy singing and song writing and I felt if I love and have passion for music then I have to go into it professionally. That what makes me decided to become an artist.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Tatwo (Ta2): Actually I was formerly called T-square, which was the combination of the first letter of my two names (Tayo and Tunde) but because of the stage name was common, I had to find a new and unique stage name. One day I and my dad wanted to bring up new stage names, and then my dad began mentioning different names and he mention TATWO. I was like wow, I love this name and since then it became my stage name; which means Ta for Tayo and Two for Tunde instead of Tun.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Tatwo (Ta2): Sharing music online is one of best way to get songs to music lovers all over the world because the likes of facebook, twitter, tumbir etc are used by people all over the world. As in the world had becomes a global village through the use of the above online platform.
I do give my music away for free online, my fans download my music free on soundcloud, yourlisten etc. I do give it out for free because I want people all over the world to know that my music is unique and different. Also for my music to get hear all over the world.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Tatwo (Ta2): I am working to the realization to be legend in my music career,
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Tatwo (Ta2): yea, I do. I handle it with style and try not to make it really visible. During my performance in Osun state, Nigeria, I was dancing to my song and I missed a dancing step, I had to change it to a new dance step and my fans loved it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Tatwo (Ta2): Actually I have not done any tour but working to the realization of that dream
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Tatwo (Ta2): my inspiration for song writing comes from the songs by Dbanj, Davido, Wizkid and Lil Wayne etc i prefer recording the voices before writing the lyrics of the songs
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Tatwo (Ta2): I don’t have a band website but I share my music under the platform of Reverbnation, Hulkshare, Yourlisten. Soundcloud, Mynotjustok, etc.
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Tatwo (Ta2): My first mix-tape and the tribute mix-tapes I did for my uncle using Celine Dion (my heart will go on)instrumental. The production was bad, in fact it was horrible and embarrassing and since then, I decided that I must use better music studio in order to get a better quality production.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Tatwo (Ta2): I am going to invest the half a million dollar on my music career. I will makes sure I had my own music studio and to get my music well promoted to music lovers all around the world. I discovered that much amount of my money are used to produced a song in others studio but with my own set up studio, my expenses will reduced.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Tatwo (Ta2): I don’t having my own studio right now but planning to set up a studio. I am working with music producers studios such as Beerex studio, and Ly Chy studio and in fact, am current working with Beerex on a track that will be release next year.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Tatwo (Ta2): I was able to connect to some promoters and I also made used of free music sharing site such as souncloud, reverbnation and mynotjustok, in order to promote my music etc. It online music sharing that works best for me.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Tatwo (Ta2): I would loved to perform with Wizkid, Dbanj, Lil Wayne, Souja Boy and Drake etc, in Nigeria and New York. I respect and loved this artist and their genre of music is what I really loved, Wizkid, Dbanj, Ice prince etc are music artists I look up to in the Nigeria music industry.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Tatwo (Ta2): yea, i have many project works for 2016. Two new tracks and am gonna makes sure it get massively promoted.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Tatwo (Ta2): actually, I am a student in Osun state university in Nigeria. If am not into music, i going to be a diplomat because I love international politics.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Tatwo (Ta2): I have no any album yet
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Tatwo (Ta2): it not easy at all, as in combining music career with education. My parent wanted me to reach a certain level of education degree before going into music, the pressure from my parent and in school was much but I was able to manage both well.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Tatwo (Ta2): my fans around the world should expect my two new tracks; one will be release on January 1st which is titled Eelele while the other release date will be announced later. My first album will be drop by the end of 2016, I have many events and project for 2016 that my fans will love and joy.
