Sado is a very talented up and coming rapper of 15 years old. He is one seventh of the Hip-Hop collective SVK, which stands for the Seven Visionary Kingz. He is heavily influenced by Travi$ Scott and it is reflected in his music. Sado is currently residing in Milton, Ontario, Canada.

We go to Jean Vanier Catholic secondary school we are all in grade 10 and we all consider each other our brothers. The name of our group is Seven Visionary Kingz or 7VK. Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

 

Sado: I was born in Mississauga but moved to the city of Chicago at a very young age. My family didn’t have too much money so throughout my childhood we moved around a lot. To this day I’ve lived in 8 different households. As a child, I used to look up to my older cousins like they were Gods. I got my first taste of music at the age of 5, my cousin Rasheed gifted me a Sony Discman, which was a portable CD player, for my birthday and along with the Discman he gave me 50 Cent’s debut album, “Get Rich Or Die Tryin”. To this day that is my favorite album of all time and the song “Heat” from that album is credited as the song that made me fall in love with Hip-Hop.

 

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Sado: The name Sado was actually created by one of my great friends Raivone on the basketball court in the 7^th grade when I first moved to Milton. I loved the sound of it and used it as a nickname since that day. I decided to use it as a rap moniker because not only was it a catchy name, it rhymed with the name Fredo, which is the name of Fredo Santana who is a very big rapper who is also from the city of Chicago.

 

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Sado: Online music sharing is such a great way for people to get their music out. We live in an age where technology controls most of the things done in our daily lives, it’s not like when we were kids and had to go to the CD store to pick up the hottest album out. For now, I put my music out for free because I really want people to know what I’m really about and that I’m serious with my music. The key to this industry is building a fan base, to do so I need to put out the music for free and push it so people become fans. The money will come in good time.

 

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Sado: All I can say is never give up on something you really, truly want. I know it’s difficult to wait but trust me; it will be more difficult to regret. Don’t give up on your dreams, they’re all you got. Push your music to the limit; no one can help you as much as yourself. If you are really confident in your product, flaunt it! Let the world know what you’re really about. 

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Sado: All of the songs that I write always have a subject matter or are telling a story. This track, Oh Well, is aimed towards the people that thought I wouldn’t go anywhere in the industry and that my music would be garbage. I literally have an idea in my mind and all I have to do is describe it. When you’re in the zone, you really don’t have to worry about the words rhyming; they end up rhyming by themselves. My brothers in the Seven Visionary Kingz are my biggest inspiration. Within our group, it is always competition. We will be banging beats on the lunchroom tables, freestyling together and one man will always want to spit a hotter verse than the next. This competition helps us grow as artists and helps develop the music into bigger and better things.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Sado: At the moment, I am releasing all my music through the SoundCloud page of SVK (Seven Visionary Kingz) which is my group. We’d like to represent ourselves as a group and as a movement rather than as individual acts because this opens up better and many more opportunities and there’s nothing better than doing what you love with the people that you love.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Sado: That’s a very good question. You gave me half a million dollars but you can keep the year off. There are literally no days off for me, the grind is never ending. I would invest the money into growing our music and creating a better platform for us to excel on.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Sado: For a while now, I’ve been battle rapping at my school and at parties. This has given me a mini fan base and many, many people know that I rap. They are all great people and with the help of all of them the promotion just comes from word of mouth. Oh Well hit one thousand plays in the first day alone just off of people tweeting about it and showing people they know. Also interviews like this is a very good way to promote my music, shout out to my manager Srince for setting this up. Soon, my group SVK will start doing shows at festivals and other places which will be a great way to promote our music.

 

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Sado: Spooky Ranger, a rapper that is part of the SVK group has an EP coming out soon called The Ballad EP, in which I am featured on many tracks. There will be a track on the EP called Lord$ Never Worry which will feature groupmates Fresh Wes, K Dot and I. You can expect a music video for Lord$ Never Worry soon after the release of The Ballad EP.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Sado: I’m at age 15 and still in the 10^th grade so I’d probably just be working on school work and building a stable future for myself. You can probably tell that without music my life would be very boring. This is my dream, I’m just living it.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Sado: My only responsibility other than music as a 15 year old is to keep up in school. I find a lot of my schoolwork very easy so it is not hard for me to juggle education and music. I know how to keep my priorities straight.

 

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Sado: Look out for Spooky Ranger’s EP The Ballad coming soon and possibly, an EP afterwards by yours truly!
