Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
RIDA: I heard about exposed vocals from Twitter. They reached out to me and I saw Mykell Vaughn on the website, he from Kansas City also. So I reached out to him and asked him was it legit? and he told me yes it is.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
RIDA: I’ve always loved music. I recorded my first song ever on a MacBook with garage band in high school and made a whole CD with my crew. It was my junior year when I first saw that I had potential. I was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. I’m not really a artist yet I’m just getting started but I love music so I want to make music people can vibe to.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
RIDA: The name RIDA came from my brothers(homies) just being a loyal dude.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
RIDA: Online can get you a lot of exposure you just have to find the right people to expose your music and I’m just getting started so all my music is on soundcloud for free. https://m.soundcloud.com/
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
RIDA: I’m still a start up I’m just now getting started. But promote yourself and record as much as you can to perfect your craft.
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
RIDA: Never performed yet but I’m sure I will make a mistake until I get comfortable with it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
RIDA: Not yet, hopefully I have the opportunity to.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
RIDA: I just write from the heart. How I feel, what I see everyday, what I go through and what I’ve been through.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
RIDA: I don’t have any I wouldn’t put out embarrassing songs.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
RIDA: I wouldn’t take a year off. But with that I’ll buy my own studio equipment and make beats to record as many songs as I can. Maybe get some big name features to get much exposure as I can.
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
RIDA: Working on getting some original beats and original songs put out ASAP.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
RIDA: I use all my social media and tell friends to promote my music for me. Follow me on Twitter (816made) and Instagram (816made).
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
RIDA: Wiz Khalifa because his fan base is crazy he has fans from all over and all his shows sale out.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
RIDA: Just keep working on new music and hopefully building a reliable fan base.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
RIDA: In school.
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
RIDA: The first album I ever bought was T.I. Paper Trail and it was a classic I listened to it everyday.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
RIDA: I have a balanced schedule don’t have many responsibilities yet.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
RIDA: Me growing as a artist, learning and a lot of great music you can just vibe to.
