Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

On A Monday: I grew up in Los Angeles, but I split my time between Santa Monica and South Central. I’d always done art, but becoming a music artist was just by good timing. A friend of mine moved into my garage, and brought his studio, so after a few months I began to secretly record myself.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

On A Monday: It just came to me, someone asked me what my rap name was, and it just popped into my head. Then I realized what monday’s really meant to me growing up. On the weekend I was wild, and then the moment monday came I was just another chill guy. With my beats I’m wild and with my raps I’m chill, so that name really stuck with me.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

On A Monday: To me it’s the only way to get my stuff out there, I don’t have a large enough fan base (currently) to sell, how I would like to.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

On A Monday: Shit keep at it, that’s what everyone keeps telling me.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

On A Monday: My life, and through conversation. I usually hear words within the melody of the beat and just go from there. I try to make my hooks personal, and melodic. I use the verses to expand on what I say in the hook.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

On A Monday: Not yet, I’m developing one currently. I use Soundcloud, Youtube, Twitter, and Tumblr.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

On A Monday: Not take the year off. I would invest it into promotion for my own music, and my company’s (Creative House Collective) music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

On A Monday: I study trends within the music industry. Twitter and Tumblr.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

On A Monday: I have three songs that I’m prepping for videos. As a director each video has to be up there with Collin Tilley or Khalil Joesph, so I’m trying to be very prepared before shooting. The next thing that is dropping from my team, that I was happy to work on was the TGIF Remix video, by a CHC member named Samurai Barnett.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

On A Monday: Directing or finding a way to make music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

On A Monday: I put music before everything, and then figure out my priorities after that.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

On A Monday: More music and better visuals coming from Creative House Collective.
