Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become a Producer?
Musical Influence: I grew up in a small community called Chelmsley Wood in Birmingham England. I lived with my parents until they divorced. When I was 17/18 i ended up moving into my own place. I decided to become a producer after listening to my good friend creating music from his bedroom hearing he had produced Big Narsties album Brixton Glory. I downloaded the garage band iPhone app to see if I had the ability to produce music myself. With only limited usage on the app I decided to buy myself a laptop and grab FL Studio where I created all themusic I have up to now. I felt like I needed to do something bigger and better with my life to give my family the life they deserve.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Musical Influence: I chose musical influence because I feel there is a power and reason behind it, as music in todays age has a huge influence on life in general, it is heard from all around the world in different context. There is always a song to relate to someone’s mood and with songs becoming more meaningful one song can change the way your day plays out. People use music to express their inner feelings that they feel they cannot speak to people about one on one. So with that been said upcoming artists sharing their music about real life situations has a massive influence on the new generation. Seeing how an artist started from nothing writing songs creating music and finally reaching success will make an impact.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Musical Influence: Online music sharing has it pros and cons like all other things, in the right hands or seen with the right eyes could mean success. I share all my music online for free at the present time as I have only been producing around 6 months so I just want to get my music heard and recognised and draw in artists who can make the influence I’m looking to provide.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Musical Influence: As I’ve only been producing around 6 months myself and haven’t really had much success as of yet, the only tip I can give is never give up. When you think its not going your way think of the day when it will and how it would be worth the wait. Success doesn’t come overnight it takes hard work and determination. Think big.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Musical Influence: I don’t have a website yet but there is one being created as we speak. I share all my music via twitter, facebook and soundcloud at the moment. You can hear my music on https://soundcloud.com/dannyleek
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Musical Influence: Half a Mill…. I would put a deposit down on a house straight away so I know there’s something there for my children when I’m gone. Definitely invest in better studio gear (always room for improvement) Most likely take my family on cheeky holiday somewhere nice and hot.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Musical Influence: Like I said earlier the only real ways I know of at the moment is social media and soundcloud but I’m always on the lookout for different ways of getting my music heard and recognised.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Musical Influence: Whats next for MI Recordings… I have a female vocalist who i have just begun working with and is currently working hard writing her own material (I hope ha) she has an amazing voice.. as a youngster she used to sing in competitions etc but growing takes over peoples life and making money becomes more important. She wasn’t given the breakthrough she wanted but now has that second chance and I cannot wait till the first tune drops..
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Musical Influence: If I wasn’t making music I wouldn’t have a dream or a goal to reach for, so I would be plodding along in a 9 to 5 job making just enough money to live on.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Musical Influence: With great difficulty at the minute as I have a 2 year old son who needs constant attention. As soon as he sees the laptop that’s his to play with so unfortunately my music making has to wait until 7:30pm when I can focus fully until silly hours in the morning. So sometimes I see myself drifting behind in my music and one song can take me weeks to produce.
