Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
MASSA DASHA: I was born in Chino, CA and spent my early years in San Bernardino, CA however due to the way the neighborhood was getting, my father decided to move us to Waddell, AZ where I have lived ever since.
Me becoming an artist is as simple as me loving music and wanting to share my style with those willing to listen
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
MASSA DASHA: Well, my original stage name was BLCKLVDR which stands for Black Lavender, a name given to me in middle school, however it acronym version isn’t easy to say so I decided to go with MASSA DASHA .The last part “DASHA” is in reference to my last name Dasher, and the first is like “Master” but set to flow with DASHA.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
MASSA DASHA: I believe the sharing of music online is an ingenious idea. It provides a way for those such as myself who may are may not be well know a chance to get one’s music out there providing easier access in enjoying the content.
There will be times were I may make something that I’d like people to share the love on. I would love to get paid doing what I love, however seeing that me making music is currently a hobby and is not my source of income I have no problem sharing my work, as long as they give me credit of course.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
MASSA DASHA: Seeing as I am a startup myself, there is not much advice I could give, however I would say to just keep at, master your craft, the fans will come.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
MASSA DASHA: Haven’t written any songs yet.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
MASSA DASHA: People can listen to my music on Sound Cloud as of right know but I will being branching out to YouTube and Reverb Nation soon.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
MASSA DASHA: I will first give some to my church, because without God no of this would be possible. Seeing that college would be paid for I would spend so much time perfecting my style and getting my music out there. I would be able to do a lot of collaborations so that I’m not just helping myself out but also other aspiring artist as well. Studio would be A1!
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
MASSA DASHA: Probably the one area I need help on. I know there are websites you are able to share your music on but anything more requires more time and resources than I am willing to put in at the moment.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
MASSA DASHA: I’m always working on new stuff, unfortunately nothing worth sharing at the moment.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
MASSA DASHA: I’m currently going to school to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering so probably studying more for school, however I can’t imagine me not making music, love it way too much.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
MASSA DASHA: I’m not going to lie it does get difficult especially with school, and we all know how excite and fun school can be. I sometimes find myself spending hours about hours on a song when I only meant to edit a small part and that may cut in on time I would have like to spend elsewhere. Honestly, it depends on the day.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
MASSA DASHA: New and better music, hopefully a little something for everybody!
