Dominican reggae-ton / Latin rap artist from Brooklyn, NY . Born in Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana i traveled to the U.S at the age of eight residing in East New York. Grew up extremely religious in a christian home with Mom, Dad , brother and sister. Always loved to sing but Never thought about being an artist until becoming an adult at 21 . I started writing songs at the age of 19 because i hated my job and thought i didn’t want to work bullshit jobs all my life. Im an avid music researcher and love all types of music . My first influences as a kid were Luis miguel, Christian Castro , Zacarias Ferreira and Anthony Santos but would have to say later on i was influenced mainly by reggae ton artist such as De la Ghetto, Arcangel, jowell y Randy , Yaga y Mackie and nicky Jam. Looking forward to putting out a 2016 project which im currently working on and continue to make great music for reggaeton lovers like myself.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

LujerMSK:  Born in 1986, i grew up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic until the age of eight. In the spring of 1994 i moved with my parents and two siblings into an East New York neighborhood in Brooklyn, and at 14 we moved again to Brownsville just a few miles away. I decided to become an artist because i always knew it was something i wanted to do. I used to sing all the time but never in church or anywhere public, then began listening to R&B, bachata, reggaeton, merengue etc. and became obsessed with the Genres, which was then when i started writing my own versions of the songs.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

LujerMSK: The name is a mixture of my first and last name, i used the first two letters of my first and three letters from my last. MSK stands for music, but specifically symbolizes my admiration for Musiq Soulchild who inspired me greatly.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

LujerMSK: Online Music sharing is an amazing way to get your music out there to the listeners if you’re truly serious about your craft. Real artist will give away free music to an extent, understanding that you can always come up with new material, but also the market is full with emerging artists so free music especially if worth the quality can help build your fan base. All of my music is free , because if its good enough when I start charging for the songs the people will eventually make the decision to Pay for them or not.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

LujerMSK: I am currently trying to figure this out myself, but all i can say is Keep at it, network as much as you can ,try to be professional and take it seriously.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

LujerMSK: I gather inspiration from a lot of things, mostly from life experiences and my own feelings. Also, from other artists new or old, concepts from all different genres.My Songwriting process consists of freestyling over beats until gathering a hook and some unfinished verses, where then i would fill in the blanks and put emotion to the words.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

LujerMSK: No, i don’t have a website but you can find me on most social Media sites @LujerMSK /facebook,twitter,instagram ,soundcloud.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

LujerMSK: I would travel to a few places i want to go. But most importantly i would put it towards my Music project and other endeavors.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

LujerMSK: I read articles online and talk to peers who have knowledge on the subject. Twitter ,Facebook and YouTube are great because you can build relationships with your audience while getting instant feedback and gratification from them.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

LujerMSK: Just working , i do plan on releasing a mixtape by the end of the summer  and currently looking to get features with other reggaeton artist. Be on the lookout for features with rap artists from Brownsville Don Korleone , MCLani, and Fame.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

LujerMSK: I would be a paralegal which is the field of work i am in now.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

LujerMSK: Love, determination, consistency and always looking for inspiration whether from music or just life.

LujerMSK: The Fans should look forward to hearing new song releases, features, videos and hopefully some live shows in 2016
