Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

LilReree: I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and i have been rapping since 2010! Seeing my brothers grow up and paly around with music i decided to try it out. To get good at what i was doing which was rap i started rapping about the stuff in my surroundings and about me!

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

LilReree: I got the name “LilReree” because my real name is Riantai, pronounced {RE-ON-TAY}. Also my mothers nick-name used to be “Reree”. People used to say that i remind them alot of my mother so i took the Re from my name and from my mothers name and added “Lil” because that was a popular and commen thing for rappers to use.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

LilReree: I have no problem with music sharing! I always give my music out for free because i’m not that known of an artist yet! I give my fans something they would offer to pay for! As an artist that is not that known i don’t think that charging my fans for my music is something that i’m interested in doing just yet!

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

LilReree: I don’t know of any other ideas looking for ttaht except me!

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

LilReree: My music inspration comes from Basheer Jones, A well-respeted author and community activist in Clevland OH. He is my inspiration because we both have the same religion and the music and speeches he puts out speaks what goes on in the real world and about change! It is what i call “Real Talk”! When I write a song i just get straight to it, as i hear the instrumental i automatically come up with a hook and a few lines!

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

LilReree: I have a website that i will include in my contact info along with my soundcloud, Youtube and other social networks! So far i only use soundcloud and Youtube to help people listen to my music but i use Instagram,TwitterFacebook and other soicial networks to promote my music!

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

LilReree: I would get my mom and my family out of this bad neiborhood immediately! Then i would Buy a home with an home studio and islamic library! I would donote a bunch of it to local mosqes and homeless shelters ect. Then i would put some away for my mother and brothers and sisters to go to college and to launch my music career!

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

LilReree: I promote my music using social networks because that’s the only thing i can afford! I Can’t afford promoters so i grow my own fan-base and hope to get support which i usually gets because people understand my movement and have respect for what i do!

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

LilReree: This summer I plan to drop a new mixtape under the title “Covered”! But before that I have some new singles coming this spring!

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

LilReree: I would most likely be doing poetry because it’s similar to rap but I don’t see myself quiting on my music career so that would probally just be a side job!

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

LilReree: Will, growing up muslim you have to be on your studies and pary 5 times a day ect. So it’s kind of hard to juggle music,school, and islam all at once! I manage to do so by limiting the amount of music! I learned how to be able to juggle all three plus family issues because i have been doing this since 2010!

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

LilReree: I have a new mixtape coming in the summer and also a music video i plan to drop soon! I also have something that i do every tuesday called “Team Reree Tuesdays” And what i basically do is interact with my fans by answering questions of their choice, doing freestyles ect.
