Exposed Vocals Interviews Lil Keezye

1.)EXPOSEDVOCALS: So tells us your Story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an Artist?

Lil Keezye: Well my name is chinedum kingsley kelechukwu onyenze, am from a family of two kids,wards to Mr. And Mrs Onyenze. I was born and brought up in my home town Abia State with my senior brother, victor ugochukwu onyenze. We are the only two successors of my family after my parents were late on 2005. I stayed in my home town for another four years under my maternal aunt before she moved us from my home town to where she stays, Abuja FCT of Nigeria,where i am presently now furthering my educational studies @ a nearby State, nasarawa state university,keffi in Nasarawa State. That’s a brief part of my story.

What actually made to me to become an antist was the challange i got from my friend. We are in the same school and stay in the same compound, we stay off campus. He challanged me to a freestyle of which i knew i wasnt very good in freestyle. That day i embarrased myself, it looked like the whole world had fallen on top my head like am a foot mat,i didnt feel ashamed instead i was motivated, i started practising and re-writing of songs again, cause i used to write for fun i didnt take it seriously, and now the onced person my friends laughed at is the same person they are praising now above my opponent who disgraced me before.

2.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: How did you come up with the name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Lil Keezye: I had many names my friends called me in every school i passed through,although i never really fanced the names but i still had to adapt with it. Actually the main person that made me to have name for myself is Lil Wayne,i love him so much, that i looked at myself and i said am a little boy but that doesnt mean what is inside me is little. So i came up with the name Lil Keezye.

How i got the inspiration for my name, i looked at the rappers i listened to, mostly hipop and rnb rappers, you can mention them all. But i got the Lil part from Lil Wayne, i just loved the pronunciation of his name like “little wayne” i loved it so much that the little tells who i am, cause every person that i relate with in my life even my friends are older than me, am always the little one. Then the part Keezye came to my mind out of uniqueness from my name Kingsley, i love that word that is one thing that can make you different and special if you wish to. I know lots of people with the names kezzy keezy and so one. I havnt seen anyone with the name keezye tho there will definitely be somewhere but havnt come to my notice, so i picked up the name Lil Keezye.

3.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Lil Keezye: Well am not really an artist into the world of music, cause i will say the first time i entered studio in my life is this year January. I dropped my first song Star_ by Lil Keezye,i downloaded the beat tho the three songs i have done is with downloaded beats not beats of my own, talking about the online sharing, Reverbnation is the only site i have my songs where people can downloaded it for free and within my school environment i share my music to people free, i havnt performed in my school yet for people to know me that much, am just a normal person with music gift who is just new into the music world.

I give my music away for free because i intend to expose myself, who knows anybody can play my song anywhere and there might a business tycoon person who will love the song and might want to come into a contract with me by asking the person how to get to me or anyother way, thats while i give my music freely to people.

4.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: Since everyone was a start up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artist looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Lil Keezye: Like i said early on am just one man squad i dont have a group am into like band group cause i dont know how to play any instrument well but i can spit into instrument that i know is for my kind of  music field. But i got a friend who plays drum very well and some other instruments and i believe he has a group of which am sure hes willing to grap the opportunity to play online for people.

5.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Lil Keezye: When the inspiration comes is at times when am alone or with someone but my headphone will be with me in either of the two occassions. As am listening to the beat is like my real self with be out and travel as far into the music world of the beat, i will start imagining things of this life, things that happen both the one i know and ones i dont know, i try and pick a message from varieties of things am seeing and form a song from it, because i believe music is a means of passing message to the world to put things in a state of balance, if you can understand what i mean.

         My usual song writing process is, i will be all alone in a place with my pen and book and start writing, at the process of writing and singing at the same time it will look to me that it doesnt make sense, but i will insist and finish writing. When am done writing and start rehearsing, at the moment of rehearsing there is sudden feeling that comes on me that i will give attitude and technique to my song as am rehearsing, it will take me far away from where  i myself is without me knowing am still in a particular place. When am done as much times of practise i will get myself back like everything is normal again.

6.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Lil Keezye: Well i dont have any band website, like i said too earlier am not in any band group, am just on my own.

         The only online platform where i share my music is the Reverbnation site. Thats the only site i got my songs on air or net where people can reach it. From the site i can share my link to various socail networks where i can reach millions of people to get to listen to my song.

7.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Lil Keezye: Wow! Thats a huge amount of money, it will help me in many ways to bring myself up. Seems the question is based on probability with the word “IF” cause am still a student, i will use part of it and reach a compromise with my producer, buy quality and better equipments that we will use for our production work to produce the best quality and sounds of music just like everyother big artist to the public. This will motivate me the more and the vibe in me for music wont die. I will make sure i work my way from small straight to the top. This will also help me to promote my song to the extent that will be viewed in every big music channels and i will make good clean videos too. I wil seek greater experts, professionals in video shooting and in music things too, to show me how i can get public attention very well.

8.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: How do you finds ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Lil Keezye: I have no other way of way of promoting my song except through reverbnation. Am still a Student i dont have financial means to promote my song in other places where money is involved. The only thing i can say that will work best for me in promoting my song is through the site reverbnation or going to many shows and getting myself exposed.

9.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Lil Keezye: Well the only thing i can say for new upcoming project is that, i got more songs i have written and waiting for the right time to unveil it to the public. Plus more projects like the kind of video am going to shoot for my songs, i want a better clean video outcome and am saving towards that, so i can surprise the public, because i believe being very unique is the most important feature for a musician.

10.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Lil Keezye: Yeah thats a good question, i believe that a normal man in life must not depend on only one thing, there must be a plan B or alternatives if the major Plan doesnt work out. Apart from music that am into, i have my educational aspect in life and also sports activity that also into, that’s soccer. If my plan A, music doesnt work out for me, although i dont wish to be pessimistic for myself, i will try out my soccer activity, if that doesnt work too then i will use my certificate cause by then i must have through with my studies.

11.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Lil keezye: Well i try and make sure i keep everything in a balanced form. Cause am the kind of person if i put my mind on thing and leave the rest, i always brings out the best, but of what use is it if i bring out the best out of what am doing and am not independent yet or know that i got back ups for myself. So for now i make i give equality to all what am doing now. Both my music, education and soccer activities. Until when am strong on the ground  or am independent already and i got much back ups thats when i will put my whole mind into music and give out the bests to the world.

12.) EXPOSEDVOCALS: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Lil Keezye: Well, am still just a start up and i got not much fans yet cause the doesnt know me yet, but the little ones i have to me is like the millions of people in this world. So because of that i will keep the fire burning withing me for music on, and continue to bring the best out for then, for i know every success person in this world started from small before reaching the top. Just like the saying of one of my rap menmentors, Wizkhalifa in his song titled mountains and the hills; “we started small to the mountains and the hills”……..“and the world gon stop Black Hollywood, we will keep creating”.
