Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

L8 Breeze: I grew up in Rocky mount North Carolina. Was born in tarboro though. I stayed in a two bedroom apt full of 6. When I was a kid always loved makin beats on desk and any surface basically. Then I wanted to started to produce(make beats) at 15. No one was really fucking with my beats so later on I decided to get on my own beats and I started to make my own mixtapes

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

L8 Breeze : My legal name is Leighton and in the spelling it is eight so I took that and with with it and the breeze came from my old Twitter name chill_ndebreeze I had it for a min and I always felt like I’m in the breeze anyway chillin. I wanted my name to be something j can answer to and feel like it’s me

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

L8 Breeze: when I was making beats heavy starting out I was just sending them to whoever. I sent some beats to Travis Scott and he helped me. After that I was like if I really want to do this I can’t just do it for free even though I was willing to do it. But sharing music is cool I like listening to all music but you gotta protect yourself

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

L8 Breeze: well as far as being a start up I’m still staring. For me Now I feel gotta keep going . So just don’t stop if you really want it and keep good people around you. I don’t really know about radio play I’ve never had my music on air as of now but I’ve sent my music out to radio stations but sometimes if you have a good track(s) and build a buzz it will pick up. If you build a buzz locally you’ll everything  should fall into place

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

L8 Breeze: when I do a song now I make the beat and lay vocals and mix it at the same time. I be writing lyrics in my phone from whatever I think about or see and sometimes I just freestyle

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

L8 Breeze: I have a website l8breeze.net I have a soundcloud and I use YouTube. I try to use any platform I can just to get my music out. Whichever platform I find I might use it

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

L8 Breeze: I would keep working I wouldn’t take a year off I don’t need one right now. I been working for this for a while so ain’t no need for a year off right now. I’d use the money to invest in myself and my brand

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

L8 Breeze: my last project I build up anticipation for it before it leaked. I was promoting it on Instagram,Twitter, basically any social media. I just put it out and hope people hear it. I send it to some of my homies me fam too

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

L8 Breeze: yea it’s another project coming but it’s untitled. Ima keep working always I love music. I’ll put tracks out here and there too

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

L8 Breeze: as of right now I don’t want to do anything but music but I also want to do fashion and have my own line. I’m stating it now but is nothing major.  Lèon by L8

Teaching is cool too I thought about that and I do like business

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

L8 Breeze:  it is hard but you have prioritize yourself really and have good people around you. I don’t know if I’m ahead in music I just listen to music old and new. I feel like I been studying and always trying to learn

L8 Breeze: in 2016 to the fans I don’t have or do have keep watchin me Ima keep working and I might be Ina city near you.
