Exposed Vocals Interviews King Beezy
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What
made you decide to become an artist?
King Beezy: I grew up on the east side of Indianapolis, IN lived in a
violent neighborhood on 25th keystone close to the downtown area of
indianapolis until i was 9 then moved to the suburbs. Young dude I
always loved music I started writing songs when i was 13 years old. I
grew up wanting to be like the artist that were on television. BET,
MTV all that. That’s what made me want to get into actually start
recording music and having my own little movement and my own fans
that.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your
inspiration behind it?
King Beezy: I came up with King Beezy from a nickname I gave myself as
a teen which was beezy because I always used to smoke swisher sweets
cigars full of potent marijuana and we called them beezy’s. Anytime
anyone would see me I would be smoking one or even sometimes had them
already rolled in the package the cigars came in. I was also rapping
at this time but never recorded any songs yet but people knew i was
into rapping. Being called just beezy on a stage sounded regular so I
added the king in front of beezy. My inspiration behind it was my
reputation in the streets already know as beezy.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you
ever give your music away for free? Why?
King Beezy: Music sharing online is great! Without it my fans in other
states wouldn’t have heard of me or the good music I put hard work
into to give to them. And I give all my music out for free, mixtapes,
extended plays, all that.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any
smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some
tips?
King Beezy: Networking! Its all about who you know not what you know.
Continue doing what you love to do even if you don’t get many plays,
listens, or shares at first it will build over time. Take advantage of
social media! Talk to people you don’t know ask them for a few minutes
of there time to check out your music. Becoming famous, or rich
whatever your ultimate goal is doesn’t happen in a day. Hard work,
dedication and a good team behind you the word fail shouldn’t be in
your vocabulary.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?
What is your usual songwriting process?
King Beezy: If I take the time to write a song my inspiration comes
from good vibes and pretty much how i’m feeling because my music comes
from my emotions. If im angry then the song will be an aggressive type
song you know. But sometimes i don’t write at all. I sometimes just go
right into the booth and record whatever comes to mind and put it into
a song.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do
you use to share your music?
King Beezy: I don’t have my own official website yet, But I usually
put my music on my soundcloud or reverbnation which is
soundcloud.com/kingbeezy & reverbnation.com/
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year
off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
King Beezy: I would take $250.000 and invest it into my music for the
future so when its time to return it wouldn’t be extra work I would
have to do it’ll already be done. Then take $100.000 to take family
and friends on a nice getaway somewhere out of the states. And with
the remaining bit of money I would save it buy a nice house, a car,
and anything else I might want or need.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works
best for you?
King Beezy: I look for services that guarantee what they’re
mentioning. And if I feel like that’s not a good way ill find another
way. You have to spend money to make money. Sometimes that’s not
always the case but in the music industry that’s how it works.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you
want to talk about?
King Beezy: Well right now I have my (EP) King is dropping 7/24/2016
on Spinrilla.com. Hopefully the people will enjoy that project
basically explaining how and what King Beezy does, has done, and will
do in the future. Then in 2017 i will be releasing my 2nd mixtape
called Legend Of Barzan. I have high expectations for this project and
pray it does as well as I planned it to be. And anything after that
you’ll just have to follow me on my social media to see what I have up
my sleeve.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
King Beezy: If I wasn’t doing music I would probably be in the
streets, locked up or even worst.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities
while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
King Beezy: I pray to the most high to get me through my endeavors and
to help me become successful in life.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
King Beezy: King (EP) releases 7/24/16 so they can look forward to
that. And I will always be dropping new songs with a few features from
the hottest artist from state to state. And maybe a couple joint
mixtape projects. Until then keep an eye out for me.
