Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

KennyT: I grew up in a small town Woodstock New Brunswick Canada. Watching my father play guitar and sing when i was young i guess would have been my main reason for wanting to become an artist. I would sit and listen to him play for hours, but he would never let me touch his guitar. As i got a bit older around 13 he let me use his guitar but he said he didn’t have the patients to teach me. So i played until my fingers would bleed learning mostly by ear and some tabs.A couple years later i started writing words to riffs i would come up with and realized i could rhyme and use metaphors well. When i was 16 i moved to Abbotsford, BC . My playing and writing slowed down a lot, i was too busy getting in trouble. After a few years of trouble i went to prison , and that’s when i found i had a lot to write and play about the words were almost endless.I moved to Vancouver BC and started playing some open mics and small gigs and it has pretty much just stayed at that i am still writing new songs and playing . I would love to move forward and get my music heard.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

KennyT: Its just my given name and last initial. Guess i never really thought to call myself anything else.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

KennyT: I just started doing the online sharing over the past year or so. I think its great. I would never give rights to my music away for free but i do upload to certain sites attempting to get lucky and have the right person hear it who could help me out.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

KennyT: I’m just small myself. I don’t have much exposure but i’ve been writing lots and tweeting, facebooking, just trying to put some songs where ever i can where someone will listen.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

KennyT: My songwriting inspiration always stems from 3 different emotions, or 3 different situations. Anger,happiness, and hate. Loss, past experiences, or present problems in my life.My song writing process would consist of figuring out music verse by verse and writing the same , and write my chours when i am done the verses. if i have room for a bridge i will work it in at the end .

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

KennyT: I don’t have a personal website. I use facebook, Twitter, Youtube , and recently Soundcloud[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/246271795” params=”auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&visual=true” width=”100%” height=”450″ iframe=”true” /] and indie.com to share my music.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

KennyT: First i would buy a small house for my family. Then i would use the rest to get in a studio for the first time and create an album. I have over 30 original songs but have never made the right connections to properly record anything. always just in my house either on the computer or my phone.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

KennyT: I have just been uploading to promo sites, entering contests when they come up. This interview would be my best promotion so far.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

KennyT: I have recently written 4 new songs. One of them sticks in my head everyday i play it over and over somedays trying to get it out but it just wont leave lol.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

KennyT: I make music when I can. I try to get as many songs out as i can. I wish music was my full time job that would be a dream come true but I work in a mechanic shop.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 Kennyt: I go to work 4 days a week. When i come home i spend a bit of time with my sons and old lady then i grab my guitar. its good because the boys like to have a jam sometimes my 1 year old plays great drums on whatever he can get his hands on lol. But when it comes down to writing a song i make the time to go for a drive somewhere or to the basement when i can. 

 

    Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

KennyT: Lots of new material, and hopefully a hit that gains max exposure. I’m having a good start to this year and i expect the new stuff to keep flowing.
