Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
karbon knight: my mum used to have alot of late night house parties. i have always been around music for aslong i can remember. my dads friends were pop stars and ragga artist. my godfather is neville staple from the specials. also i have been around alot of jamaican reggae stars.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
karbon knight: i actually got my name from an artist called kilo green which was going to be his but he didnt use it so i thought it suited me better.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
karbon knight: yes i give my music away for free to gain a world wide fan base to build up my status untill i get on a level to sell. online music sharing is good as i can put out my own music and expand my fan base in all different countries.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
karbon knight: stay focused dont make nobody put you of what you do and keep promoting untill you get spotted.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
karbon knight: i watch stuff what i want to watch, reflect back on my life and say what ever comes to mind there and then. theres no pen and paper for me its just straight presssing record and going with the flow.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
karbon knight: to share my music i use reverbnation, soundcloud, datpiff, live mixtapes, spinderella, twitter, instagram, facebook, itunes, amazon spotify and alot more.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
karbon knight: half a mill ? i would buy 2 houses too flip, i would pay to work with the artist i want to work with. create my own tour by putting artist on tour also myself to really get my music out there.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
karbon knight: saving money to get a big dj such as dj white owl to host my mixtape were i buy package deals and shooting a video with one of the most rated filming tv channel (link up tv).
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
karbon knight: i got some singles what im about to drop on itunes with snyp life and tyler woods. i have a mix tape coming out with one of the top US DJS, DJ J BOOGIE and talking to DJ Diggz and DJ Op (a DBLOCK DJ) we are talking about dropping a mixtape this year.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
karbon knight: i’d most probably be on the streets but i have got other talents, i can do dj’in i could be a promoter or even most probably an actor.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
karbon knight: always staying onit to achieve my goals.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
karbon knight: im about to put out some new music, music videos, some good collaborations with rated UK and US artist. check me out i have alot of music out there so go find a song you like or dont like and tell me what it is. it would be good to hear from my fans aswell to see who they would like me to work with.
