Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

KamPoe: I grew up in Michigan in a town called Mattawan. I was mostly raised by my mother and my older sister. I didn’t have much growing up as a kid. My family was dirt poor and my mom was working multiple jobs just to provide for us. What made me decide to become an artist was, well ive always been interested into music. I never thought I would be actually making music like the famous singers/songwriters do today. I started off on Heavy Metal because my dad is a duper metal head. As I got older I migrated to rock and then from there I discovered Hip-Hop/Rap. I moved away from the other genres of music and stuck with rap because it fit my personality more and hey who doesn’t like sex, money, drugs. It fit more with my story and I loved it because I could connect more with who the person I was inside.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

KamPoe: How I came up with the name KamPoe was well ive always been called Cam as a little kid and I wanted to put something of my childhood into my name so you’d understand what type of person I really am. I changed the C in Cam to a K because one it looks cooler and two my girlfriend actually came up with me. So a big thanks to her for giving me that idea in the first place.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

KamPoe: What do I think about online music sharing? I think its an incredible thing. Just to be able to create something so great and just at one touch of a button share it is really awesome.

Do I ever give my music away for free? Well at the moment yes I do, I put it on soundcloud for everyone and anyone to listen to it. Yes one day I would love to make money off of my songs but I’m just not there yet.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

KamPoe: All I have to say is work hard and strive for what you love most and something good is bound to come out of it.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

KamPoe: Usually I just think of something and try to remember it for later or I write it down on my iPhone. I’m a person that thinks a lot. And I love to think so I put that to work, it helps a lot.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

KamPoe: No, I do not have a band website. I put all of my music on the website SoundCloud for everyone to hear.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

KamPoe: I would spend it on things to help further my music career and well I wouldn’t want to take any days off, I love making music so I’m going to keep doing it.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

KamPoe: When I drop a song I put it on every social media that I have like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr. Facebook works best for me because a lot of my friends and family members have Facebook so that works way better then everything else.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

KamPoe: Right now I’m just going with the flow, I don’t really have any plans besides a new song that I’m coming out with so you should defiantly check it out.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

KamPoe: If I wasn’t making music I would be going to school and then coming home to sleep, play video games and watch Netflix.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

KamPoe: Music hasn’t really popped off for me yet, but when it does its defiantly going to be a struggle with school and all.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

KamPoe: Fans should look forward to more and more content in my soundcloud. This year is going to be filled with fun.
