Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

 

Jonah: I actually discovered it going through Twitter and seeing various retweets and thought I’d give it a shot.

 

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Jonah: I grew up in south Houston. Alief district to be exact. Music has always been something I’ve dreamed of doing and I just happened to put these dreams into motion

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Jonah: in all honesty, I decided to use my actual name as my stage name due to the fact that my name I believe holds some major power coming from the bible.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Jonah: well most of my plays/views come from my online music sharing. I love using soundcloud as a way to find other artists to Collab with.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Jonah: honestly I’ve never had a live performance. it’s something I’m hoping God will put into my life as a way of gaining popularity.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

 

Jonah: due to me not having shows I haven’t had any experiences.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

 

Jonah: haven’t toured, it’s something I do look forward to doing.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Jonah: my songwriting usually comes from my emotion. whatever I feel at the moment is what I’ll write about. either that or sometimes I may get bored and just feel a certain line coming to thought and I’ll write it down and come back to it later. I always try to tell people that songwriting is usually an all day process.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

 

Jonah: Not exactly embarrassing but I do have a lot of Sam smith and John legend in my playlist

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 Jonah: first and foremost id be sure to make a few smart investments. and use the rest on promoting my music through performances and promotional services

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

 Jonah: currently I’m using the University of Houston student ran studio. it’s so far great so I don’t think there will be any changes

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Jonah: usually through word of mouth or through online promotion.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

 

Jonah: LA with Drake, because he for one is in the wave of great artists of my generation and LA is just a great city.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Jonah: well I do plan on dropping a mixtape in June or July currently I’m just working on making more content and taking feedback from my listeners.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Jonah: im currently enrolled at the university of Houston and I am majoring in computer engineering so I could say it would be some type of tech work

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

 Jonah: Drake: Take Care. I really wasn’t that excited when I purchased it, it was more so “I feel like I need to buy this album”

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 Jonah: grouping with friends and going through things slowly with them. sometimes I speak to my family and they keep me on the right track.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Jonah: lots of great music, a few live shows and a close experience with me. thank you for your time.
