| Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Jabs: I have always had a passion for music, I couldn’t go a single day without listening to something. I always wanted to create my own music so I decided to try it out.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Jabs: My name is Jaber but for short a lot of people call me Jabs, and it just always had a nice ring to it so I decided to stick with it. Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Jabs: I am a strong believer in online music sharing. With all our modern technology, a song or video can go viral in minutes and the whole continent will know about it. This newer generation is based on social media so it is very easy to get music or opinions heard. Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips? Jabs: Don’t ever give up on any of your dreams and set goals, because you truly are capable of doing anything you set your mind to.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Jabs: I base my songwriting inspiration on events that have happened in my life, and I don’t have any particular process. Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Jabs: I mainly use Soundcloud, just because it’s the most convenient and it is commonly used by many people. You can view my music at https://soundcloud.com/jaberrrrrrrrrrr Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Jabs: I would invest in a studio, get a nice little place next to it and move in with my friend B. During that year I’m sure there would be plenty of music getting produced and I would be enjoying a life of luxury. Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Jabs: Word of mouth is s very good way to get people to listen to it, I also tend to use social media such as Twitter and Instagram as well. Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Jabs: I am making music, but I also continue to attend school and have a job as a chef in Napa Valley. So I guess if I wasn’t making music, I would just attend college and pursue a different career. |
