Incarcehated: We followed you guys on Twitter, then you followed us back and got in touch about this interview.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Incarcehated: Hey guys, first let me say thank you for your support and interest, we appreciate it!
Anyway, Incarcehated got together in late 2013, we were all raised in João Pessoa, PB. At this time we were already friends, Arthur Hermann our vocalist/guitarist, he started writing riffs, and came up with the idea of starting a band, and we really indentified ourselves with that music.
Apart from that, we’re just four friends that enjoy be togheter and play some heavy, fast and loud shit!
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Incarcehated: Guilty, was the first track on our 5-Songs EP Halfskull, it’s a song about a man living inside the prison system, and he is kinda badass type too, so first we came with this title track idea “Incarcehated”, which is a pun with the words “Incarcerated” and “Hated”, but we like this name so much that we decided to name the band with that! haha
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Incarcehated: We think that’s great, we’re a independent band, and the only way we’re able to distribute and share our music is through the internet, we share our songs for free in our bandcamp and soundcloud.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Incarcehated: Make good songs, have passion in everything that you’ll do, and be true to yourself.
Also support your local scene, that’s important too!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Incarcehated: Sure, sometimes we made little mistakes in concerts, we rehearsed hard to not do it, but when it happens that’s ok, we move on and try to not do it again.
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Incarcehated: There have been a lot of great stories from our time on the road, but my favorite is certainly that.. we were backing from a show in Mossoró, RN and our car broke down, this city is almost a hell on earth, kinda like a desert, and we was there thirsty and lost, then a bunch of scouts came out of nowhere and fixed our car and gave us water and stuff.. was fucking unbeliavable, we’re almost dying there man hahahahah!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Incarcehated: We’re inspired by a lot of stuff, movies, books, our lives, and of course a lot of bands.. Megadeth, Annihilator, Slayer, Anthrax, Testament.
Most of the time, Arthur comes in with some riffs and we work together until we think that’s good relevant music. 🙂
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Incarcehated: We don’t have a website yet, but we use Facebook, Twitter, Bandcamp and Soundcloud.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?
Incarcehated: Mmmm, that’s tough.. maybe John Mayer? hahahaha i know, i know!
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Incarcehated: Guitars, Amps & Drugs. haha
just kidding, sure we would make a killer record, with all the technologies and shit.. that would be fucking great!
Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?
Incarcehated: Yes, right now we’re in the studio recording our first full album, “Tales from the Streets!” it will be a 8-track record, and we’re very proud about the music we’re making!
We’ll be releasing it this summer, by a independent label.. and will be everywhere, spotify, itunes, bancamp, soundcloud, and we’ll also be selling the CD at our gigs.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Incarcehated: Internet, is the only way a independent band could make it these days, and we’re cool with that, we can talk to our friends and fans, and make contact with almost everyone.
Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?
Incarcehated: Megadeth maybe? that would be great, they are our major influence. 🙂
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Incarcehated: As i said before, we’ll be releasing our album, “Tales from the Streets!” this summer, and we expect to tour all over the country and also get signed to some good record label.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Artist: We’d probably have some shitty jobs, surrounded by shitty people… and would be mad about it. Which is actually a reality for us at the moment – hopefully not for long though!
Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?
Artist: Yeah man, was “Vulgar Display of Power” by Pantera, when i heard that guitar my life changed forever!! fucking awesome!
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Incarcehated: We all work and study during the week, it sucks, but in Brazil we don”t have the support needed to live off music.. especially metal music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
in-your-face thrash metal, our album will kick some serious asses!
