Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?
Ill Alien: Well on the second day of having Twitter, one of your reps hit me up about how I could get my music checked so I e-mailed..
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Ill Alien: I Grew up In South Texas then moved to the DFW area at a young age, not long after my farther got a better job then moved us to Illinois. That’s where I developed most of my passion for music but the first time I fell in love with hip hop was in Texas. Moving way up north showed me how different the same sounds could be which made me even more fascinated with the Art!
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Ill Alien: Well I’ve had many names in my music career simply cause I’m was always growing as an artist while studying the art. Ill Alien (Illegal Alien) is not jus cause I’m Hispanic but its cause I’ve crossed over in so many styles that I feel like I don’t live in just one.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Ill Alien: I believe its beneficial at the beginning your career, no one wants to buy something they’ve never heard but you definitely don’t wanna your audience to get use to it. Takes money to make money.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Ill Alien: Most definitely, we aint so different in this game, everybody can always be doing better and getting more, with that type of mentality you’ll never feel comfortable where your at till your where you want to be! Keep wanting!!
Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?
Ill Alien: Of course, you just gotta keep moving.. A lot of my mistakes were mostly stage quality like mic feedback or vocals low.. When I bounce out my music I make sure the quality is in point!
Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?
Ill Alien: Every show we’ve done was memorable!! We fools when we all together! I mean, that’s what its all about, having fun and getting money unfortunately off stage life is more serious!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Ill Alien: I use love battle rappin or dissing rappers I aint like, lol it was a certain energy I would get but that don’t sell radio. Knowing how hard it was to even get radio play made me want it more. Lately I’ve been doing vocals in rnb and smooth music, the best song relates to how someone feels!
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
