Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

 

I grew up in a small town in the middle of Missouri called Glasgow and there is a lot of music happening with little bands around in the area. From an early age I just wanted to play some sort of music, I took piano lessons for a few weeks in fifth grade but beyond that I had no other formal training other than concert band in high school. Just after high school this past summer I moved down to Florida and I got super homesick very quickly and I had no idea how to cope with that so I went out and bought a cheap microphone and a cheap preamp to plug into my MacBook and I just decided to start recording covers onto GarageBand. If I like the recording enough I would post it to my sound cloud.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

 

My name is just my name my parents came up with that. I wish I had a creative name to call myself! Feel free to tweet me artist name ideas open to anything!

 

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

 

At this point I don’t really have a choice but to offer my music for free. It’s not like I have a team or a record label behind me selling my music for me.  I just find Youtube and Soundcloud and post my stuff there, hoping someone listens to it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

 

 

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

My songwriting process is very organic.  When I write music, I’m usually putting down the first things that come to mind, whether it’s a melody recorded into my phone, or some lyrics I’ve had in my head all day.  I don’t really have to be in any certain state of mind to be able to write something.

 

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

I don’t currently have a website.  I just got a separate Youtube channel to start posting music to.  My main focus for publishing is Soundcloud.  Soundcloud all the way because they make it so simple and easy for anyone to post what they’re creating there.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

That’s a tricky question, because I could answer like anyone else would and just say “I’m going to paradise for a year!”  Not me though, I would probably find a cozy condo in Manhattan or Los Angeles and just keep doing the exact same thing I’m doing right now, and that’s making music I’m proud of and putting it out there for everyone to listen!

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

If I’m face-to-face with someone, talking, I usually just ask for their phone and pull up my Soundcloud page on their web browser then leave it to their discretion to listen to it or not. I’m not financially in a place where I can necessarily buy ads online or anything.  I do have business cards with my info on it though!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

 

I’m currently in the VERY beginning stages of writing for an album or EP.  I just need to keep focus on getting that finished, but I’m taking my time making sure everything is perfect!

 

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

 

Well I’m in school at Paul Mitchell the School Tampa right now so this summer I’ll be a licensed Cosmetologist, so there’s always that.

 

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

 

I just focus on one thing at a time.  During the day, while at school, I’m in school mode.  When I get home, I’m behind the piano, computer, or mic, I’m in music mode!

 

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
