Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Eli Newz: Exposed Vocals direct messaged me inquiring about my music, so I researched the company and liked the roster of artist. Once I completed my research I was sold.

 Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Eli Newz: I was born in New orleans, later moved to Franklinton, La where I grew up. The son of a Pastor; I sang in the choir all my life but was also exposed to  R&B music and really loved the mixture of music. I think i have always wanted to be an artist since age 5.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Eli Newz: Eli is short for Elijah, and Newz comes from my father preaching the good news, which is the gospel; so I said my Newz might not always be good  so i took the Newz and replaced the s with a z and dropped the good.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Eli Newz: I love it. You can share your music with the  world instantly. If you don’t show people what you can do, whose going to believe in you? Build my fan base now and if I was not a one man band and had to pay for studio time I would think differently.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Eli Newz: Yes, I would advice any start up artist to: get your own style. Look at the billboards and learn what sells and why?

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Eli Newz: Yes, just keep a straight face no one should ever know you messed up. Basically I would fake it.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Eli Newz: No, but I would love to hit the road. I did a show in Atlanta and some ladies threw some money on stage and that was cool.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Eli Newz: Life itself. I just try to record the world as I see it in my own view, my thoughts, my pain and my happiness. My song writing process is chosen from a beat I made. I then  listen to the track a couple of times, ask myself how does it make me fell, and write and record the hook  as the subject then I  pretty much explain myself in the verses then take them to church at the end.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Eli Newz: Yes. Soundcloud, ReVerbNation, Twitter and Facebook. Eli Newz is not hard to find; just Google me.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Eli Newz: Everyone I listen to are legends but you might hear some stuff from the 50″s.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Eli Newz: I would buy a house for my family, buy more studio gear, make more music, then hit the road touring the last six months.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Eli Newz: I’m working with Pro Tools, my trigger finger beat machine, keyboard and microphone. Im always upgrading software,  different microphones is on the list and I  can go on for days about the more equipment I would love to have.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Eli Newz: Instagram and Twitter works good for me but I have a lot  to learn in regard to marketing and promoting my product.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Eli Newz:I t would be 2pac. I would do the hook and he do the verses.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Eli Newz: Yes. Shows,music,videos etc… It’s time for me to step out of the studio and onto the stage.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Eli Newz: I only have a passion for music that is how I express myself, music is my life.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Eli Newz: Yes. It was R Kelly!!!! Man I was so excited all I could do was listen over and over and think this will be me one day! An artist that writes and makes his own music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Eli Newz: I include my family in my music

Eli Newz: A bigger platform to introduce a new sound.
