Exposed Vocals: How did you hear about Exposed Vocals? What made you decide to sign up?

Big Baby: I believe you guys followed me or I followed you on Twitter. Either way I’m grateful. But I felt like Exposed Vocals could help me with my music. And I was right, thanks for the interview!

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Big Baby: I was born August 21st,1994 in Buffalo, NY. My mom moved us to Omaha when I was 3. I’ve lived in Cali for a little while and now been in the 480 for I believe 12 years now. And I’m a 90’s baby so I grew up listening to Pac, Biggie, and all of them feel me. They all have a story and a legacy, and that’s what I wanted. For people to hear me and my story. I want a legacy. I wanna be a legend!

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Big Baby: Big Baby came from my homie named LRTK who is also an artist out here in AZ. He said I looked like Big Baby Davis that used to play with the Celtics, and the homies we chilled with all agreed. So I stuck with it.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Big Baby: I mean it’s cool for now, you gotta start somewhere. But I’m trying to sell them records and be on those charts, that’s my goal. But ya I have songs out that my fans can just go and download. But its not gonna be for long, unless I say so.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Big Baby: I just want to say don’t give up. Put God first, have faith in yourself. No matter what people say, believe in yourself. The closest person to you could look at you and say you’ll never make it. I’ve had it happen. That shit plays in my head everyday. Please just don’t give up on your Dreams!

Exposed Vocals: Do you ever make mistakes during performances? How do you handle that?

Big Baby: I’m sad to say I have. It happens tho. I missed my start of my own song. The volume was a little low though, but I will put it all on me. I’m performing again soon, so I pray everything goes great.

Exposed Vocals: Do you tour? Anything interesting happen on tour that you think our readers would enjoy hearing about?

Big Baby: I have not done a tour yet, I’m working on that. But I’m going to be doing alot more performances. I have a show coming up February 20th. And I can’t wait to go back on stage. But if I do Tour don’t ever miss it.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

It depends on the type of beat, I will usually try to get a visual of how that artist would do it. But still have everything in my own style. I just kickback, pop my headphones in, close my eyes, and start flowing.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Big Baby: I’m on alot of different sites like Facebook, SoundCloud, and Twitter. I share my music on all of them. My SoundCloud is BigBaby94. Facebook is Big Baby. Twitter is BigBabyy94.

Exposed Vocals: What are some really embarrassing songs that we might find on your mp3 player?

Big Baby: You may find some Jhene Aiko, some old Omarion, or something like that but hell I love it haha. Hell you might find some Luther in my phone.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Big Baby: I would toss my mom half of it, go buy a small house, set up recording equipment and record my ass off. And I would save the rest of it.

Exposed Vocals: Any planned studio upgrades? What are you working with now?

Big Baby: The world may never know haha just playing. But I have alot written down and I’m currently working on a album. So my two new songs Killing It and Used To are both from the album.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Big Baby: I always promote on Facebook and Twitter. I have people who support me who constantly repost, share, promote my music. Those are my true fans who wanna see me make it. Everything works fine for me, I have no problems.

Exposed Vocals: If you could perform anywhere and with any artists (Dead or Alive) where and who would it be with? Why?

Big Baby: Kendrick Lamar hands down. I don’t care if we perform in a street with only 5 people watching us, that would make my dream come true. Performing with someone who inspires me would truly bring me to tears. That moment would let me know I made it.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Big Baby: Once again the world may never know. Nah like I said I’m working on a Album its called Dreams To Reality. I don’t have a date yet but just know its on its way. I’m sorry to my fans tho.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Big Baby: I already work, so I would go back to school to study criminal investigation. It’s very interesting tho really.

Exposed Vocals: Do you remember buying your first album? Who was it? What was going through your head?

Big Baby: The first album I ever bought was Biggie Willie Style, by Will Smith. I was young and I loved the whole album.  I was think it his best album. I actually still have it.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Big Baby: My goal is a song a day. So what I do is I write on break at work, come home spend time with my squad, write when I can, and write at night. I may even stay up late just to do two. I try to be that dedicated.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Big Baby: I just want my fans to know I’m NOT stopping! Understand I’m trying, I’ve been going through alot. I want you guys to understand me, feel all my passion and pain. I just want you to hear my story. This will be our year! To My Mom and Grandma I love you dearly and I appreciate all your support. To My Squad I love y’all and I will never stop.
