I live on the beautiful national park called Dartmoor, which inspires some of my music, but also inspires me everyday with it’s natural beauty and ever changing scenery.
It’s as close as you will get to solitude, but with people living around you.
My music is like a passion that burns inside me and needs to be released by composing and I think that comes out in my sound.
I call it “Rastle” after a track I have not released yet. It’s a mixture of old school and the newer sounds and has a cheeky beat through most of it.
I do play a little harmonica, but am a player of harmonicas, rather than a harmonica player.This means that I have the gift of being able to play all types of harmonica, from a diatonic to a bass.
The most important thing to me with the music I compose is that people are made happy by it. Happy enough to dance and move with the groove, like there is not a care in your world
This is supposed to be about my history but that is just boring, so instead of reading this, play one of my tracks,watch one of my videos and get a smile on your
face and enjoy life.
One last thing my dear and supportive friends/fans, (however you see yourselves).
Always stand against the wrongdoing and evil that is blighting our world. I need not expand more as we all know it’s there and it’s our job and duty to rid our great and beautiful world of it.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Barium Sunset
I grew up in the beautiful southwest of England and especially remember learning to surf when I was 7 on Crantock Beach in the summer holidays.
Crantock is not far from Newquay, which is well known for the surf scene there.
And when I was not surfing, I would hang out with the lifeguards doing body building fitness exercises and scoping their pretty girlfriends.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Barium Sunset.: I have, like your editor have a passion for peace in this world and after trying many things to help put things right in our world including, 2 anti war websites,”Troops Back Home,” both of which mysteriously vanished.
One of the things with peace is that while it may be peacefulish in the western world, the people are being poisoned at a slow rate via geo engineering and has been forsome 20years now. Some of the stuff sprayed in our skies has been proven to be barium, which is a red chemical and that reminded me that we have had some extra incredible sunsets…..as a footnote to this,some may say this geo engineering is a conspiricy theory, but that holds no water when governments have admitted to doing it to combat climate change.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Barium Sunset: Music sharing online is a very contravertial subject and I believe to a point, that it should be exceptable. Five years after the release of copyrighted material, being that this material has reached top 20 in the charts or above.My reasoning behind this is that less succesfully artists are not being punished and those that make £100,000’s out of their music have enough time to collect earnings for their work, without being heavily penalised.
I have music out there now that’s free and you will find there are very many sucessful artists do this as well. Where else would that bonus track or tracks on the album you bought from your favourite come from?
I see it as giving your fans a gift or two that they would not otherwise have had, and a gift that brings them joy,(depending on the artist,lol)
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Barium Sunset: I have a friend on Twitter who has been in the music industry for more years than a lot of people have been alive, producing very famous artists and the advice he was given was that live practise was what made them better artists.
For trying to get gigs and air play, email propective venues with a couple of tracks and some photos, to give them the idea of what you sound like. Include any sucess your music has had and comments left by fans. Aove all, if it i your true passion,don’t ever give up and whatever happens on stage always look like your having as much fun as your fans.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Barium Sunset: I draw my inspiration from the beautiful area that I live in and if I feel an artistic urge to create, I put my headphones on and let the music go where it does.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Barium Sunset:
I would invest in some new software and use it for promoting my music. Some I would give to charity and only local ones at that. The rest would go on a camper van so as to spend more time in the great outdoors and travelling
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Barium Sunset:
Word of mouth is great but you cannot beat having millions and millions of people out there on the net, just waiting for the next new sound to come around and hoepfully fill their life with a little more happiness.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Barium Sunset
There are plans for an album this year, wth a date and title to be yet confirmed. That and seeking out a contract with a bigger label so I can spread the joy of my sound as far and wide as possible.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Barium Sunset:
I would making the most of life in some artistic way. You only get one shot at this existance, that we know for sure, so make every second counts and let every moment be a joy to yourself and others.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Barium Sunset:
As with music, it’s all in the timing and the day goes much smoother if accurate lists are written out and always carry a portable voice recorder or note pad as you never know when you will be inspired to prose.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Barium Sunset:
The further development of “Rastle” which is the type of dance music I have created and the forthcoming album are two majorpoints for the year and may be pesueded to do a couple of gigs later in the year as well.
