Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Badhasha: I was born and grew up in a small county in England called Essex, the thing that made me decide I wanted to become an producer and DJ was the love for music I have, as a kid and growing up I had an obsession with music I was always listening to it at whatever chance I got! But over time just listening to music wasn’t enough I wanted to get involved and learn to produce music,and influence others to do the same!

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Badhasha: It was quite simple to be honest with you, I mean it took me a while to pick a name I was happy with but Badhasha is just my surname,I guess I’m quite lucky to have such a unique surname , made things a lot easier for me haha.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Badhasha: I think online music sharing Is an awesome thing! It gives upcoming new artists a great chance to get themselves out there and build up a fan base,which is always a great thing to have behind you supporting your music! Giving music away for free in my opinion is great,because as I’ve mentioned before hand for new artists one of the best things to have is a decent fan base,and when starting up in the music industry you have to be doing it for your love and passion for music not just for the money.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Badhasha: If there could be one thing that I would say is that it’s important to never give up, and be persistent with it all. You also have to be willing to travel and not make a massive amount of money at first, when starting out gigs are a great opportunity to make connections and meet new people like yourself and to get advice from others who have been at the stage where you are.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Badhasha: As a producer in dance music usually for me the process is quite simple, I’ll just grab my laptop open up my software and have a little play around with the piano roll and try to create a little short melody and build on that, so it’s just a case of trial and error I mean obviously I know what sounds good for example what the chords are and what notes sound good after one another but usually it’s just a mess about and build on that as soon as I get an idea as to what I want it to sound like. Sometimes I’ll even just be chilling watching TV or something and I’ll get an idea in my head or I’ll find inspiration from something and I’ll chuck the first few notes down into my laptop and once again then build on that and see what works well with what!

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Badhasha: At the moment no I don’t have a website as such! I’ve always been interested in starting one up but  I’ve heard it takes a lot of time and knowing the right people,but it’s defiantly something I’m interested it starting up! I usually use SoundCloud and YouTube to share my music on! And I feel that works well and it has the possibility to connect to new people!

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Badhasha: That’s a tough question! Although I think I would defiantly love to go traveling and visit as many different countries as I could! I’ve always been interested in other countries , their culture , the different types of food and languages , it all fascinates me a lot! So yeah I would go and try to visit as many countries as possible!

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Badhasha: Nowadays there is so many different ways to help promote your music, for example Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud and YouTube , and of course by word of mouth! Although I definitely think SoundCloud and YouTube works best for me as these are used worldwide and especially SoundCloud its main purpose is for promoting and showcasing your music so you know your content is going out to people who love music!

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Badhasha: Erm yeah! I have a few things coming up but I can’t say too much about so you’re going to have to wait and see,but I do have an upcoming colab hopefully so that should be pretty cool!

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Badhasha: well I’m still currently working whilst making music so I guess I would just still be working but it wouldn’t feel the same not being involved in music!

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Badhasha: It can be a little hard at times if you desperately want to record a mix and upload it or send and reply to emails especially if you’re backed up with work or college work etc, but luckily I’ve just finished college so now I have more time to focus on my music as I’ve only got work to think about as well now! but the main important thing is to prioritise , whatever is the most important thing needs to come first for me personally and sometimes for me it’s not necessarily my music but I will only ever work on my music if I’m relaxed and have the time as I won’t ever release anything I’m not 100% happy with or thought I could’ve done better as its really not worth it, as my music is something I enjoy doing so if I don’t enjoy it for myself I won’t make myself feel rushed about it.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Badhasha: I Have loads planned which is awesome! As said before I’ve just left college recently meaning I have more time to focus and work on my music! I’m in the process of setting up my own record label which should be all finished soon which is amazing! I have a few collabs planned! And I’m going to be out Dj’ing at more events this year as well!  Oh and I also have just confirmed a partnership with a YouTube channel who uploads mixes etc to help with promotion! So that’s pretty cool to be involved with! Especially as they have over 90,000 subscribers!
