Кate Broux (born as Kate Elterman on 12 September 1984,in Russia) is a singer, songwriter, musician. Born and raised in Magadan, she began to sing and perform in school. At the age of 15 years working at the different studio sound recording as a singer. Since that she began to perform as a cover singer.
In 2001 she began to study a direction at the college of Art. In 2003 she does show performances and was successful, what draws the attention of the entire press in her city.
In December 2004 the Elterman`s Family emigrated to Germany. Here go Kate to University of Applied Sciences Heilbronn and study Event management. In Germany Kate started to participate on concert tours all over the country together with her cover Band.
In 2010 Kate`s Friends engaged her to create electronic music. At this time she began to write songs for electronic music.
In 2011 Kate Broux moved back to Russia as exchange student and found, during a jobsearch, the producer Delared. Kate and Delared began to make music together. At the beginning she took her own Name Kate Elterman and released with Delared their first track «From deep inside”, and although it was their first experiment, the track was successful. The second collaboration with producer Delared was the track „Immersion“and was released on Renior Records. This track pass to Top rated tracks – the king of Spins Top 20, as Number 1.
At the moment Kate Broux lives in Germany, collaborate with Delared, write new songs and engage their production and promotion.
DelaRed (born May 7, 1991 in Yerevan, Armenia) is a DJ and producer of electronic music living in Russia. At the age of 16 he first got in touch with electronic music and was fascinated by its potential. At the age of 18 DelaRed released his first track ‘’The Black Planet“ that drew the attention of several Trance DJs on his musical talent. His next successful work was ‘’Madrid to Mallorca“ that made it to the Transmission on Radio Record top 25 tracks.
In 2012, DelaRed changed his music style and started to experiment with mixing different styles and genres of electronic music such as Progressive Trance, Progressive House and others. Famous EDM-Artists like Tiesto, Don Diablo, Ummet Ozcan, W&W, Gareth Emery, Matisse & Sadko, Morgan Page, Roger Shah, Pedro Del Mar, DJ Feel and many more supported his music production.
In 2013 DelaRed and Kate Broux won in the competition „Demo Contest“ for the best track at the Sochi Winter Music Conference (SWMS) in Russia. (Track title: “Madness of love”)
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Kate Broux: I was born in the north of Russia, in the city of Madagan, near Alaska. At the Age of 15, I was drawn into world of music. I was a cover artist in a dance club and other concert halls of the city. That was the time I discovered Benny Benassi. Benny burned me up and that was enough to begin loving electronic music. When I was 20 years old, we immigrated to Germany. For seven years, I had been looking for a like-minded person to make music together. However, all my searches were ineffective. In desperation, I decided to leave the cover-performance work and moved to South Russia as an exchange student. There, I met a person, who breathed new life into me. He was a beginner, sound producer Delared. To say that I was falling in love in his music is to say nothing. My heart was pumping hard, my pupils were dilating and everything around me was turning into colored universe. My story is a story of a big love and friendship. We see the music differently and that’s why while writing music we often argue. Nevertheless, I think this is the way to grow together. Two people grow together in order to find their own harmony and tune in the music. Thanks to Delared, I was an EDM artist.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Kate Broux: Delared got his nickname in school in the honor of a famous footballer. Dela warned me that the nickname should be unique. The google should display your name in combination with your personality on the first line. In the search for the perfect name, I spent a lot of time. Finally, I found the name, which sounded me good. The inspiration for my name was my favorite singer – La Roux.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Have you ever given your music away for free? Why?
Kate Broux: Look: Nowadays many young sound producers are appearing. This is the reaction of the technological progress in the music software area. What is the difference between sound producers and the classics like Beethoven or Bach? Our guys invent not just a melody but also a tune. The more the music is produced and spread among people for free the faster it will be developed and progressed. Online music sharing could motivate other people to become sound producers. This is music progress-indicator, I think. I like what goes on in the music world according to the freedom of creativity. Giving our music for free? Yes! Sometimes in the search of a good label, we spend more time and it slows down the process of the music production. It is important for us to have a permanent professional growth and to be successful. For the growth, we should work without stopping and have a good motivation. For the success, we need collaboration with labels and positive feedback from fans. People love getting music for free.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking for getting gigs and airplay some tips?
Kate Broux: Don`t think that you would be waited for with open arms. The process could be hard and you are the architect of one’s own fortune. That means you should never give up and try to do everything that will be good for your musical image and professional growth. With every performance your experience will expand. The first time you should give a performance for free so that people could get to know you.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration from? What is your usual songwriting process?
Kate Broux: I get a powerful inspiration from the music produced by Delared. Along with his music, I write lyrics and create vocal, also make a song from the track. To find some inspiration I need complete privacy, nighttime, microphone and Cubase 5. When I write music on the piano by myself – I look for the inspiration in my soul, in my actual emotions. Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Kate Broux: We would build a studio, where we will create a breathtaking atmosphere. Then we would give out parties and invite other artists and sound producers to these parties for the joint work. It is the first thing that came to my mind (:
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Kate Broux: We try to give performances. Along with this, we are often invited to different interviews, for example on the radio or TV. It’s great when famous artists support our song or track. It draws a big attention to us. Tiesto, for example, recently supported Delared. (Thanks to Tiesto Dela began to write music). Taking part in competitions is a beautiful way to communicate with people who have a good place in the music industry. With promotion we are supported by bloggers as they help to achieve massive quantities of listening.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you would like to talk about?
Kate Broux: Delared and I are waiting for the release of our song in April. At the time I am working in collaboration with a sound producer Ribellu from Cologne https://soundcloud.com/ribellu
He is in Los Angeles now working on our track. He is coolJ This collaboration was an exception – I work usually only with Delared, because we are a band) Me and Delared changed our music color a little so you can hear it in our songs that will be released in 2016.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Kate Broux: I would become a singing teacher. This doesn’t mean that I I would be a vocal guru. No. I can easily explain and know a lot about vocal art. I see talents in people. And I can develop it. Delared would go into a professional sport, tennis for example.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Kate Broux: Music is not business for us. It is our lifestyle. It makes us happy every day. That’s why we never leave music production. We build other responsibilities of ours around music. We earn money – selling sweets for children. This way we stay free and it doesn’t disturb our mood to make music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Kate Broux: We are interested in creating our music with which it would be comfortable to give a performance. Many of our songs sound great on the radio, but for the performance, they are powerful enough. People like action. Me too J It would be perfect to become exclusive artists on the major label and have a tight tour schedule.
