Jermaine Christopher Chism, also known as “Big Mayne” was born January 3, 1989 and raised in El Centro, CA. He was influenced through out his childhood to begin a music career, however, he was always too shy. The courage within him came out after his cousin; his role model and inspiration, deceased in 1998. (Sean C. Fuller) He began putting together his rhymes and working with his home made studio. Big Mayne started influencing others as his cousin did him. He became very familiar with all the technicalities of the music industry, and started developing a plan of attack. He has achieved many mixtapes, ranging from love songs to freestyles about the experiences he has had through his life.

When “Big Mayne” was asked what he could possibly bring to the music industry, his response was simple. He stated ” My music is real. My music brings my all to the table. It is something almost everyone can relate to. The best thing about it, It gives me a chance to release all of my emotions.

“Big Mayne” has goals to turn the music industry into his carreer, and do something with his amazing talent. His plans are to have a big finish, give back to his community and take care of the people that mean the most to him; his family.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

BIG MAYNE : I grew up in a small town  called  El Centro CA,  close to the mexicali border  born and raised  nothing ever to really do out there

so of course being a knuckle head   gang life  found me  started thinking i was bad  hanging out then i start seeing all my big homie get locked up or  young cats on drug already  so i just wanted to be something bigger then that  and  choose to go on the music path also due to the lost of a  cousin sean c fuller   who was  music passionate  by all means and would always want me to make music but at the time i was young and very shy so thats pretty much  how i wanted to become and artist.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

BIGMAYNE : my name also came from my cousin sean who passed  he nick named me maine maine  so everyone would call me lil mayne then as i got older  i got bigger and bigger so then it went to  bigmayne  and bigmayne stands for  BEST IN GETTING MUSIC ABOVE YOUR NEGATIVE  ENERGY  AS FOR THE STREET SIDE OF IT  BIG MAYNE  STANDS FOR  Blood i get money all year no ego   which means  ima huslter  by allmeans  but im not cocky  with  it at the same  time so thats how that came about

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

BIGMAYNE: I LOVE ONLINE MUSIC SHARING JUST NOT WHEN THEY SPAM IT UP ON A DAILY BASIS AND ITS ALL ON Y TIE FEED HAHAH OTHER THEN THAT  I LOVE IT . I ALWAYS GIVEM Y MUSIC AWAYS FOR FREE AND THE REASON IS  I WANT THEM TO KNOW I’m not necessarily  in need of there money its the bond with my fans that matter to me at the end of the day i love doing music so with or without a deal im going to make music   its my passion and i belieeve i got a gift  for it  .

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

BIGMAYNE the biggest  tip i can give for that is to network  never be afraid to go outside your boundaries and  i gave up alot of years  begin nervous and shy  if you want it go achieve your goals

and always stay humble .

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

BIGMAYNE i gather my song writing inspiration thru my life  and the stuff im going thru at the time  and  what i want  to be heard or  announced  thru my music   my writng process  is basically  find hook  write verse  and then  get it in  usually  i can wirte  a nice  16 bars  in bout  25 mins   tops

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

big mayne: first and foremost   im buying  a  house for me and my parents   and then go take wifey on a nice  little trip and  come back and get back to buinsess

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

bigmayne:  promotion teams   friends   family   fans   and  most of all social media   if im out  in the streets i just let people know go check out  big mayne  or ill make shirts and the name has been getting notcied

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

bigmayne:  as we speak  i have  my new mixtape in process   its called reachin out  basically i reached out to thos who wanted to  be apart   mostly all feature  just to show i reached out and gave  alot a chance to work  with the kid  those who didnt its there lost  i have no time for negativity  and  go  buy my new single   sagg my pantz  produced  by kaliredbeatz  rest in jbmajick on itunes and support   thank you all

bigmayne: to be honest out in the street  or dead by  now i was on a bad path   that wasnt right  im glad i found this gift to do music

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

bigmayne: i just tell myself  my life  goals are  important   as well as my music goals  and for 12 years now i been  keeping up with  both
