Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

StanDaMann: I was born in Columbus, MS and raised in Boston, MA. I have always had a love for music, when I was a kid I would memorize every song on the radio. I decided to become an artist because I want to get out of the street life and show my peers that even though you come from a negative environment you can still do something positive.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

StanDaMann: I came up with the name StanDaMann because my real name is Stanley. StanDaMann was a nickname that everybody would call me growing up so it just kind of stuck with me. I decided to make it my artist name because I want to keep it real with my fans and show them that it’s cool to be a man. I feel like my generation has a lot of young men trying to be something they’re not.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

StanDaMann: I believe online music sharing is dope. It gives you the opportunity to share your music with the whole world in seconds. I give all my music for free because I am still new to the music business and I want everyone to hear what I have to say. One day I want to get paid for my music because I do have bills just like everyone else to pay and I want to take care of my family.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

StanDaMann: My best advice to anybody trying to make it in the music business is to never give up. Always believe in yourself no matter what and keep going. I’m still new to all this myself so I’m still learning as I grow.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

StanDaMann: Honestly I don’t write any of my music I just freestyle all of the lyrics. There is no better feeling then when you hear a beat for the first time. As soon as it comes on, if the vibe is right I just start flowing. Sometimes I will freestyle something then remember it and go to the studio so I can record it. I will start writing my music when it’s time to record my first album.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

StanDaMann: I would invest in my own satellite radio station to give myself and other artist that are up and coming a chance to be heard by the world. If I have any money left over I will give it to my family.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

StanDaMann: I promote my music through social media. I think the best way to promote music is by getting out there performing and showing the people what I got. In the future I will get a manager and music promotion team to help me out.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

StanDaMann: I will be putting out my first mixtape this year so look out for that. Also visuals to my current songs will be out shortly on youtube. I am going to keep performing live at shows, so if you want to see me in action tell your favorite promoter to book me. I hope to work with other artist who have a strong passion for music in the future.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

StanDaMann: Honestly if i wasn’t making music I would be selling drugs. I would probably be dead music saved my life.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

StanDaMann: I just try to stay focus and keep positive energy around me. I pray to god for strength and to bring the right people around me.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

StanDaMann: 2016 is going to be great year new music, new videos, new features, and new money. lol
