Exposed Vocals Interviews I-B-BEATS

I-B-BEATS: I’m proudly South African. I’ve been intrigued with music most of my life. When I was younger I made all the Mixtapes my friends played for their parties and even jammed in their cars.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

I-B-BEATS: actually a funny story. I made a mashup video mix for a tv station demo and I needed a name so I typed in Bbeats and it autocorrected to ibbeats. I liked the way it sounded so I added the dashes and I-B-BEATS was born.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

I-B-BEATS: online music sharing is the future of the industry. I always give away my sets as well as any new stuff I produce. I make an income marketing my brand with corporate sponsors.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

I-B-BEATS: mixcloud is a good way to start getting publicity. My advice is take advantage of the social media boom we have right now. Market yourself everywhere.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

I-B-BEATS: at the moment I haven’t dabbled in songwriting. I have produced track instrumentals. One day I def want to write vocals for my tracks.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

I-B-BEATS: I am on Facebook (TRICKDBEATS) , Twitter (@Trickdbeats), Instagram, LinkedIn, and most of the other social media networks.  My music is on mixcloud (TRICKDBEATS) and I play live sets online at Mixlr.com.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

I-B-BEATS: ooh, not sure I’d enjoy a year off. I always need to keep working. But if I had to take time away I would getaway to a remote vacation spot and spend a couple months working on new music. Maybe learn as many instruments as I can.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

I-B-BEATS: mixcloud has worked well for me. All my uploads make it into various charts and the exposure is incredible.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

I-B-BEATS: well as I play online stations my next step is to create live events for the TRICKDBEATS BRAND.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

I-B-BEATS: probably sumthing else requiring creativity.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

I-B-BEATS: I make it a point to balance myself and my time out equally between all my lifeworks.

I-B-BEATS: one spoiler I can give is a reboot of favorite classics that will make ur head spin.
