Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Tehri Jam: I was born in Gary, Indiana. Moved to Minnesota at a toddler age, I have one sister close to my age and a brother who just recently turned 4. Im the Oldest. I got into music because, i realized that alot of my family had also found interest in music, especially with rapping. I also use to be a good dancer and music was the shit back then like it is now but not as passionate as i see it now with a controlled mentality. My grandma on my moms side use to write poetry and gave me one of her empty notebooks and since then i been going ham with alot of poems until high school then they transformed into rhymes.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Tehri Jam: I had three reasons for my monocure. The first was my mothers name is Terri and I always thought certain female names were actually suitable for men, like Kourtney, Kasey, and i thought Terry was kool just spelled a masculine way, so i came up with putting a H into Terri. The second reason was because i had a friend who at first was an enemy until i actually got to know him and come to find out we had the same name, our mothers had the same name, and my birthday was exactly the day after his. I felt some universal force move me at that moment which made me realise Tehri was kinda ment to be, and if you apply that with Supreme Mathematics, the number 2 represents wisdom and women. The third reason for choosing Tehri Jam was, I found two well known Minnesotan Artists who were Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam, and applying that with Supreme Mathematics the number 3 represents Understanding, and after finding that out i had enough knowledge and know to understand that Tehri was definitely for me and “jam” was just dope as hell. so there you have the average joe Tehri Jam.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Tehri Jam: The point im at in my career, which to me is aspiring and i choose to give my music away for free. BUT if i were a well renowned artist then i would be against it, if it werent in my consent. Otherwise it ususally depends.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Tehri Jam: Dont give up. Im still in the mix of trying to get into venues and spreading my music, in hopes of the world agreeing with my music and choice of style. So go balls out the way you think and feels right for you.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Tehri Jam: I gather my muse from the winds bro, straight up. I like to sit outside sometimes or even stare from the window and evertually get outside but i like to speak to Allah and the universe with my spirit and ask for guidance espeically if i have a sense of direction on what i want to do and i just dont know how or when to go about it. And most times the beat talks to me, as long as ive been into music my perspective of life gave me some good senses and i love feeling for the mood of a beat.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Tehri Jam: Right now im just using Soundcloud and Youtube which i need to update. But stay tuned, i also place some material on my Facebook to.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Tehri Jam: Im buying myself a crib something hella modest. Im giving all my family a small blessing, im getting a modest car, and im going to live and continue to create music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Tehri Jam: i just spam my Facebook and continue to update my Soundcloud and Youtube.com

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Tehri Jam: I am currently in the mix of my next project but im still unofficial with the title. Im excited because i finally upgraded my software, so now i got so much better quality music coming out now. But nothing i wanna hype up. JUST LOO FOR THE KID!!!!!!!!!!

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Tehri Jam: Learning to conform into society.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Tehri Jam: Parenting before anything. Then music.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Tehri Jam: New music and amazing conscious and talent to be given to the world willingly. lol
