Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Crotona-P: I grew up on Crotona ave e.179st in The Bronx Ny. What made me decide to become an artist was my love for hip hop and the respect that i had and have for the latin rappers that opened doors for me in this culture.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Crotona-P: Well to be honest I went threw many names as names were a big thing in the 90’s.lol Started as Pop Chu then PC Sebastion then when I decided to do my solo thing after many years of being part of various groups I decided on carrying the name of my hood and the P stands for Pride cause I will forever consider myself the pride of my hood.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Crotona-P:As of late Ive taken a lil break from releasing free music because ive done that pretty much for the last 3 years and feel like there is alot of free music of mine out there for the world to hear.Ive released 3 solo projects-Road 2 Recovery,Da RecoverenHasbin Project that you can download @datpiff and AARP(All About Rappers Pride) you can download on my soundcloud page and on logamp. A group album with my Hexx brothers Blast Blicka,Clo Dubai and Won Soul Confessions and my first solo project that i uploaded on youtube titled His Bxpression that i recorded about 10 years ago.Plus tons of features ive done for other artist as well so right now im trying to release music plus also provide for my family at the same time which i have been able to do at a very small scale thus far.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Crotona-P:The only honest tip I can give any artist on the come up when it comes to getting gigs is get your bread up cause everything in this game cost money. You will find Deejays that will believe in your talent and will get behind your movement and do everything in their power to break your records but a good percentage of the people in this game are in it to make money just like you so weigh out the benefits of what you are paying for and if you deem it worth it,then make that investment if you have the means to do it.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Crotona-P:It depends on a few things.The beat,where i wanna go with the track,whether its gonna be conceptual or just more of a bar and skill type of track but when im working on an album i always try and draw from my life experiences and what i see around me good or bad.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Crotona-P:You can find my music on spotify,deezer,rhapsody,itunes,amazon,xbox music,dat piff soundcloud logamp,twine,etc pretty much everywhere you can download free music purchase or even stream. Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Crotona-P: Well First I would invest about 20 to 30 thousand in the working of a single the right way to get the most of that opportunity and hopefully if the single does well I would keep generating money performing the single and be able to use some of the half a million to better my daughters future and improve our living conditions. I would use some of that money to set up a small tour to hit about 20 cities and attempt to sell as much merchandise as i can to keep the money coming in because a half a million can go very fast in this industry when you take into account paying people for their work may that be video,music production etc.The one thing I can tell you I wouldnt do is fall back and get comfortable.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Crotona-P: Social Media has been a huge help. Just being able to get feedback back from people all over the world that can tell you how your music makes them feel is special to me.Im still getting used to some of them but im very active on Facebook and twitter.Recently I joined a Marketing and Promotion team called Vantage Point and they will be handling a portion of my promotion and any consulting i may need.Plus all the leg work my family HEXX NATION does as a whole plus MEINK MILLIONS,EASY TEE and all my supporters online that share my music to their followers helps more than you could ever imagine.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Crotona-P: At the moment we are working my latest single “Let the Horns Go” which was released officially on March 22 and has been on rapstation.com‘s top 50 planet chart for the past 10 weeks peaking at number 3. I have a few other singles i will be releasing this year but we are really trying to focus on getting the singles heard by as many people as possible without flooding them with too much material even though we are in an attention defecit era we want the music to mean something so we really hope you sit with it before we release anything else.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Crotona-P:Working a 9-5 and paying this damn child support!!lol

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Crotona-P: Its difficult but I have a great support system in my family. For the first time in my life I have a lady that loves and understands what I do musically plus believes in my dream as much as I do.Without that it would almost impossible to do what I love.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Crotona-P: More singles,features,videos,and hopefully god willing youll get a chance to see me on stage in your city soon!!
