Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Prodigy: I grew up in a small town of Ninety Six which is located in South Carolina. My mom was a singer and a songwriter, but she decided not to make a career out it. When I was about 9 years old, I realized that I enjoyed to sing, and that one day I would like to perform for people and for the world.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Prodigy- I came up with the name Prodigy because I am my mom’s prodigy because I am the youngest male in the family that must continue to uphold our name. My inspiration came from people who told me that I would never amount to anything, so I wanted to prove them wrong.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Prodigy- I only promote my music, and if it is someone I know. I rarely give my music away for free because there are many people out in this world who would not do the copyrights like they are supposed to.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Prodigy- Follow your dreams, no matter what people say about you, just use their words for encouragement and inspiration to prove them wrong, and to help you get better.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Prodigy- I usually get my inspiration from people who always have something to say about me. My usual songwriting process is to think about everything I have been through and everything I will go through and start jotting them down, and then add a few words to make them stick together like glue.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Prodigy- I don’t have an official band website, but I do have a facebook page entitled “FWA.” FWA stands for Free World Association, and it was formed by me and one of my close friends. I promote my music through social media, youtube, and soundcloud.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Prodigy- I would give half of it to my grandmother, and I would save the other half.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Prodigy- I promote my music through social media, and through word of mouth, so they can know when to expect it.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Prodigy- What’s next? The next thing I will be doing is getting back into the studio, so I can officially drop my first ever album as an independent singer.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Prodigy- I would probably be mentoring kids so that they can follow their dreams.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Prodigy- I have a schedule and if there are conflicts, I try to fix them because I want to help others also in any way possible.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Fans should look for around ten new songs to be released before the end of the year.
