“I’m still a youngin’, still ain’t seen my twenties.” With that being said, I was raised in Ormond Beach, Florida. Since the day I saw Nelly drop his video for “Hot In Herre” it was my dream to create music. My main goal isn’t to come up, but it’s to make music I like. I would like to just inspire others just how I was inspired by Biggie and The Roots.

Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Zaggy Dre: I grew up in a small town called Ormond Beach, in Florida. I started taking the steps to where I’m at now when I was 15 or 16. The people around me heard what I was creating and showed me support. The support was what gave me the motivation that I needed to go further and assisted me in making my decision in becoming an artist.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Zaggy Dre: I came across the word “Zaggy” scrolling through the internet. It stood out to me and I never heard of it before. I rolled with it. It stuck. My friends call me Dre. So I came up with Zaggy Dre.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Zaggy Dre: What I like about online music sharing is that, I never know where my music will end up. I’m just having fun with the whole process and experimenting so I don’t mind sharing it for now.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Zaggy Dre: Stay focused. Procrastinate, when you need to. Work hard and don’t spend time on the problems life throws at you. I’m not saying don’t resolve them, just spend more time on music. It all depends on what they’re goals are, really. That’s what helps me.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Zaggy Dre: I get inspiration from the most random places, at the most random times. My car is number one on the list. I love driving and that helps me clear my mind and gather thoughts. I execute my ideas later. on paper. My songwriting process: Wake up, grab the laptop, lay in bed for like two hours, listen to beats, write something small. I’ll come back to that later, time for breakfast.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Zaggy Dre: I use Soundcloud and Twitter. Be sure to check those out if you haven’t already.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Zaggy Dre: I would help some people I know out. They probably need more than I do. Then use whatever I have left to build a little studio for myself and spend the half a year doing what I love, in that little studio.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Zaggy Dre: I use my friends, I use social media, and going out to self promote. Social media and friends work the best for me.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Zaggy Dre: I have a few small projects I’m working on and some ideas I want to act on so we will see what the future holds.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Zaggy Dre: I would be creating bad habits. Getting in trouble ordering buckets of fried chicken and running off with it.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Zaggy Dre: I just go with the flow of my day. I always end up having enough downtime throughout the entire day to work on music.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Zaggy Dre: The fans should look forward to the positive energy I am bringing.
