Formed in 2001, and straight out of NY, Niobe hits you hard with its own unique brand of music. From the engulfing power of the melody to the spirited stage show, Niobe combines the taste and experience of the six members into one melting pot of music. Niobe consists of two lead singers, Rob Hidalgo and Dave Martinez. Unlike other bands that have dual vocalists, Niobe doesn’t present you with the used and abused format of a lead singer and an emcee, but rather two partners that share an equal voice and presence on stage. No back up. No specialist. Just two lead singers, period.Brazilian-born Alex Guerra and Eddie “Dread Loco” Inacio compose the guitar duo. While Guerra supplies his brand of heart-stopping, ear-shattering, chord-crunching play, Dread Loco adds effect elements to breathe a different life on to the viciousness in a symbiotic union of rage and precision.
The rhythm section is the backbone of this musical onslaught. Drummer Billy Moreira combines traditional metal drum bashing with a unique percussionist touch, and taste of the industrial thrown in as well. On the other side is the outlandish bassist Fuma “Fumasa” Negrellas who rounds out the section with a unique style of bass playing stemming from his experimental use of his instrument.
These forces come together to form a music mesh that moves the body, mind and soul. With an incomparable groove and lyrics that are universal in their understanding, Niobe is a sound apart.
