Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
Daxx: I grew up in the state of New Jersey in the United States. I originally got electronic into music when I heard it in the background of YouTube videos. I wanted to make it so I got the demo for FL Studio and slowly learned how to make it myself.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
Daxx: The name Daxx is loosely based on my name David. I took the first two letters and replaced the last three with two Xs.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Daxx: I love the idea of sharing and giving away music for free. I give away most of my music for free because it helps both the artist and buyer in the end.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Daxx: My biggest tip is don’t be afraid to really put yourself out there. When I was first trying to promote myself I was always nervous about them thinking I am desperate but I found if you just put yourself out there, opportunities will come soon after.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Daxx: I usually get inspired by listening to a lot of different types of music. Once I get an idea I will write it on piano and go from there.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Daxx: I don’t have a website as of now but all of my music is on my soundcloud.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Daxx: I would definitely buy better equipment and probably start touring and playing shows overseas.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
Daxx: A lot of times it comes down to Tweeting about it and getting others to Tweet about it. If you can get people talking about your music it will spread pretty fast.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Daxx: I have a bunch of new collaborative projects with other artists and a few new tracks that I will be releasing over the next few months
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Daxx: I would probably be editing video or doing other types of work involving media.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Daxx: It’s hard to balance everything but I find once you get into the habit of making music daily it becomes much easier.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Daxx: Lots of new music and live shows.
