Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
When I was growing up my dad played rhythm guitar in a blues and rock and roll cover band. Once a week him and his band would have band practice at our house just outside Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Although though I didn’t have much understanding or appreciation for it then, I think back about it now, and it’s the coolest thing in the world to me. A lot of people have inspired me to make music throughout the years and others taught me things that I didn’t know that allowed me to improve my music, but over everyone my dad was the biggest influence.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
The inspiration behind Boof Chief it was kind of random to be honest, and really old. I just heard someone say it before and thought it was a good name for myself. Cause I’m the Chief of the Booth. (S/O KC Chiefs) I also don’t like my real name. Then girls started calling me Boof.. I like it so much I’ve been Boof Chief ever since! As for Alldayyo, I came up with it one day after a tall glass of magic tea and it came to me like an epiphany and I’ve been with that ever since as well. Its weird but the word “All” is special to me and ever since that day I started Alldayyo I started taking the word “All” as a sign when I’d see and hear it. I like everything about what the word means. Unity, togetherness, and so I used it when I write like a secret message to the ones who actually know I’m talking about. It gives me a feeling like the universe has my back. I’m not going to get too deep into it but that’s the origin of Alldayyo.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
I think its great that everyone has a way to express themselves exactly how they want to and what I love to hear the most is my friends’ make music. People that I know for reasons other than music that just got to get something off their mind. When I can relate to the music it makes it all the better. I do give my music away for free and that’s because I want everyone to hear it. So many people are trying to bank off music now a days. There’s almost no point till you’ve really made it. Another reason I give music away for free is because I want to hear what people think or when it comes to a collab or feature I want the music to happen more than I want the chump change.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
I would say the first thing you got to do to get airplay and gigs is simply bring it in the studio. There’s so many other things I could and want to say and I’ll get to but that’s first and foremost. You can make music however you want but there is reasons why they play the songs they play on the radio. You’ve got to get smart. You’ve got to push yourself to do what you know you’ve got to do. Then if you do that and you’re music can draw fans, booking shows isn’t hard when you live near the city.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
All my inspiration for my music comes straight from the story of my life. There is no lies, no exaggerations. Everything I say is the truth. The first thing I do is make myself a cold ass beat and a hook depending on what I’m trying to do then I avoid writing the verses cause I tend to take s*** too far. When I finally write the verses, I’m leaping with joy and rehearse it till its memorized, then I discard the paper. From there I either start tweaking the beat adding instruments and drops or I stash it in my in my head with all my other memorized verses that I’m saving up.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
With half a million I would definitely go somewhere tropical cop a boat and chill out.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
To promote my music I like to tell them about it in person. I promote on social media for the sake of the come up but my favorite thing to do is show people my music one on one in my studio where I make it. I haven’t done much to promote my music beyond that. I need to do more.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
What’s next? We Goin’ Up (Tgood Diss) (Prod. Alldayyo) , and Shadows by cHAUNCy Goldchild Ft. Boof Chief & MoyeThaGreat (prod. Alldayyo) are just a few! Expect some new music very soon! I’m especially proud of these joints cause I produced them and two of my favorite people are on the beat. Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t making music I’d probably be selling drugs and paying for a girl’s apartment and vacations that cheats on me. I’m just kidding. I’d probably still be in school. I got a plan to go back. For now I’m holding it down. I’m having too much fun. There’s a lot of things I’m passionate about I could see myself doing but music is the one thing I love the most.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Honestly, my main focus is this music. I’m not saying that it’s the most logical focus point but it makes since to me. Every time I make something new I’ve made another investment in myself, and it feels great. Someday it could pay off more than I could have ever imagined. That’s not what its about but that’s always in the back of my mind every time I work.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
In 2016 my fans should look forward to shows, I’m gonna work all my magic to book shows to show you guys what I’m about in person. I want to shake each and everyone’s hand who shows out. I appreciate everyone who takes the time to listen to my songs and everyone who supports me.
