Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What
made you decide to become an artist?
Clome: I grew up in a subdivision in Q.C Manila, Philippines and I’m
17 now but when I turn 16 we move here to Jersey City, New Jersey. I
was born and raise there with my mom and my dad has his new family
here in Jersey. Left me when I was four and saw him again when I was
14. Things that made me as an artist is how I want to get to the other
side of the fence of being broke so I can get my mama out of our small
appartment and to help my relatives back in the philippines cause they
in the stuggle like we do.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your
inspiration behind it?
Clome: I come up with the name “clome” Cause I was thinking of a
stage name and I look at my whole name “John Carlo Mendros” and I
combined some words and I come up with “clome” but clome means Cool
and lame too and that’s my personality so I used that name and it’s
unique. My inspiration behind all of this is my Mom ’cause she do
anything that she can for me so I’m gon’ return the favor to her now.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you
ever give your music away for free? Why?
Clome: I think music sharing is ok to me. for now I can give away my
music for them to hear it but If I ever Got a deal I don’t know bout
that for now. I do it for the love of hip-hop that’s why I rap so I
think I’ll give some for now and if God blessed be and get me a deal.
I’ll still give out but not my music though. I’ll give away something
else.
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any
smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some
tips?
Clome: For all that you do, Just do what you think what’s right
because one day it will lead you to your dream and you’ll reach that
dream so don’t stop now. It’s hard to start with nothing but I know
we’ll come up with something with our faith We’ll be winners one day
cause we’ll be blessed!
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?
What is your usual songwriting process?
Clome: I write songs about my experience through my life. sometimes
about How other people suffer and I write them all down in my notebook
and tell it to the ones who listen so they’ll know what’s going on. My
song writing process is to think of what’s important for the world to
hear and listen to beats then I’ll combined those words and put it in
my notes then rap at the beat with it then If somethings wrong I’ll
change it then if it goes perfect I’ll memorize it then record it.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do
you use to share your music?
Clome: No I don’t have a band website. I use soundcloud to share my music.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year
off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
Clome: I’ll give some for my family and then spend some of it for the
things I want and I’ll help other people through feeding programs and
other stuffs. I need to share my blessings too cause I probably can’t
sleep at night having that money and not sharing it to others.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works
best for you?
Clome: actually Only promote it through social media like twitter and
facebook and share my music. It works best when some friends share it
so Others can see it too.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you
want to talk about?
Clome: I have lots of work to do. Projects will be popping out at
soundcloud and I’m still learning so it will be good.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Clome: I probably play basketball everyday ’cause my first dream is to
make it to the NBA but I got caught up in this music thing when I was
16 so I do music now.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities
while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Clome: I do the rest quick and focus more on my music when It’s all
done and It works fine.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
Clome: They can look forward on something good ’cause I give my 100 in
my music.
