Albert Martinez aka “SKY JONEZ” was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1983. His mother knew it would be difficult for her children to grow up on the streets of NY, therefore, in 1986 she along with his stepfather and older sister relocated to Woonsocket, RI where he currently resides. Growing up in RI would not prove to be any easier for SKY JONEZ (known for years as Chi).
His mother and stepfather began abusing drugs. During this time Chi left home, at the age of 16, and found several ways of getting into trouble. And after years of being in and out of the system , he began to reflect and think about a change.
Sky Jonez became interested in music which was a pivotal turning point in his life.
So many positive things have happened for Sky jonez since the days on the streets and prison cells. He began rapping under the name of CHI and was a member of major Rhode Island rap trio “Dark Skyz“, which he released “The Forecast” along with his own solo projects “All or Nothing Vol.1-2”, “Stand Out” and “1 OF 1” (produced by WHOS RICH FLAIR BEATS).
Also he has been featured on CD’s with DJ D-Wun, DJ Franchise, DJ Rukiz, Krook Rock, and more.
During his journey to rising fame he has had the opportunity to open for artists such as Juelz Santana, Styles P, Freeway, Red Café, Lloyd Banks, KRS-1 , Kutt Calhoun , caskey ¡MAYDAY!and many more!
Recently Sky Jonez has signed with INDIE LABEL “TEAM FLAWLESS ENT”, he has gone on 2 tours with flawless and STRANGE MUSIC, and he has released his first official studio album with distribution. ” WANT MORE DO MORE “! Now he is dropping his second project “Something To Believe In”!
SKY JONEZ is NOT waiting, he’s working for the day the arena is full of fans wanting to hear his story.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
lol The name came from people telling me i always had my head in the clouds, daydreaming… like i was jonezen for fame lol i guess it just evolved from that.
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
I like to give music away for free because of the first time listener. I am attempting to build a fan base right now I believe the money will come later. And one day when my numbers of fans and supporters tell me it’s time to sell my product I will know.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
Continue to make music, stay genuine, build your fanbase create a demand for your music. And the rest will take care of itself.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
Most of my inspiration for songs comes from life experience I also like to look at what’s going on in the world around me and translate it the best I can through my music.
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
I am currently working to create my own website. But at the moment I use Facebook, YouTube ,Twitter, Instagram etc… social media open up the gateways for Independent Artists to be able to reach the masses on their own you have to take advantage.
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
I would invest in promoting my music more online, I would also most likely buy on to some tours and I would extend my merchandise dramatically. For starters LOL
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I use all social media and blogging that I can but I have found that Word of Mouth from other supporters and fans is the biggest promotion you can get
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Yes I have a free EP dropping on 420 of this year as well as a new video dropping the same day. there are 10 records on the EP which we have shot videos for each one and we will be dropping them as we go along.
This CD features underground powerhouses like Kutt Calhoun Flawless real talk and passionate MC.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
Honestly I’m not exactly sure but I know that I would be involved with the industry in some way or fashion. I also manage a barber shop so I suppose I could own a few of those LOL
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
Sometimes it is hard to maintain a balance but you have to cut the extra stuff out if you were serious about making it happen. being independent and maintaining employment as well as having a family it definitely gets hard, but that were your ambition steps in.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
I am releasing a new project on 420 called Controlled Chaos, they can expect a lot of visuals for me as well . My new CD will be available for free download on datpiff.com soundcloud.com and will be available to stream on Google play Spotify Apple music and all other major streaming sites.
