Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I grew up in Sumter, South Carolina. I wanted to become an artist because when I was like 6 or 7, I use to hear my brother and his friend rap all the time. That made me want to get their approval, so I started writing my own rhymes.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I got the name Banga from the homies in my hood. I was free-styling one day and I mentioned the word “bang” and it caught their attention. So I took it and ran with it.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I think that online music sharing is the norm in this day and age. I give away free music all the time because I just want to be heard. Plus I like to hear peoples opinion on my music.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

BangaOnTheBeat: The only thing I can really tell them is to grind hard and to keep pushing your music regardless of the feedback you get and to always make what “you” like.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I usually gain my inspiration from my peers and from the mood that I’m in at that particular moment. My usual songwriting process is finding a beat that I can catch, then I just free style in my head and whatever I say that seems like a dope line, I just write it down.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I would buy some much needed studio equipment, a car, and then I would invest the rest of the money.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I usually promote my music on social media. Youtube and twitter works the best for me at the moment.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: Well I have two mix-tapes coming out. A mix-tape with just instrumentals and a mix-tape with my top 10 tracks that I made.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: I would probably be a artist, a video director, or playing sports.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

BangaOnTheBeat: It’s pretty balanced so far but I just take at least six hours out of my day to make music then I focus on my other responsibilities.

BangaOnTheBeat: More beats and more music.
