Lido Shuffle by Boz Scaggs (cover by Tate Berkey and Friends)
Ever since I started covering some Boz Scaggs tunes last year I got a bunch of requests to do this specific song off of his 1976 record Silk Degrees. I’ve always enjoyed this tune, even before I started to really study and listen to Jeff Porcaro. Him and his fellow Toto members David Paich and David Hungate helped make this tune a hit following its release as a single in 1977. Paich assisted in the writing process with Boz who formed the song around a Fat’s Domino tune called “The Fat Man”. It’s a great rock shuffle that’s simple but yet so bad ass!
When I began thinking about another collaboration to record following the positive feedback I received from our “What A Fool Believes” video, I couldn’t think of a better tune to include all the wonderful people (some of which you may recognize from past videos) I asked to participate. Each of them recorded their parts separately in my home studio over the course of our Thanksgiving breaks. After everything was recorded and filmed, I moved on to the mixing stage with the help of my good friend David Chubirka who is an excellent musician and audio engineer. Without his help, the audio quality would not have been possible. I can not thank them all enough for contributing to this fun little project that I hope everyone can enjoy!
