Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

Vincent Victor Oath: I grew up in Naples, FL, and hated absolutely every second of it. My dad always played piano, and played in bands, and also taught me how to harmonize at a young age. I joined band in middle and high school and played Tuba for 7 years. At 15, I started seriously playing guitar and singing, and writing started at about 16.

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

Vincent Victor Oath: The name Stereo-Type made me so happy, because every person in the band is a Stereo-Type, but not the same one. There’s:

Vince – The Punk (guitar/vocals)

Nate – The Emo (bass/backing vocals)

Keagan – The Prep Guy

And

Brian – The Metalhead

Although we all have different backgrounds and follow different things, we fuse very well together and get along very well.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

Vincent Victor Oath: I believe that music should not cost money to listen to, however, if you want the artwork, booklets, a physical CD, and everything else that comes along with it, yeah, that is when you should pay for the distribution. I’ve given away plenty of music over the past 4 years, and I never get upset at the idea, because I know that the person I’m handing it to really wanted it. If you ask how much it is, chances are, I’ll tell you donation, because who am I to list my own price?

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Vincent Victor Oath: Don’t do pay-to-play shows because your band won’t last long, and contact venues directly. The first show I got with Stereo-Type, I walked into a dingy metal lounge dressed in a full 3 piece suit as if it were an interview, and that was how we started getting shows. Its easy, and only takes confidence.

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

Vincent Victor Oath: I normally write about the most hurtful things that anyone has done to me. On top of Stereo-Type, I also have my solo project, I run a promo company, and I also work a full time job. So I let my aggrevation build up for 3-4 months, get angry, and go in my room and shut the door. Sometimes, I’ll write 1 really cool song, sometimes it’ll be 5. I’ve been working on writing more positive songs lately, which I feel is doing well, but I get most of my inspiration from traumatic experiences.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Vincent Victor Oath: it’d probably be a lot of touring, recording, video shooting and eating. I love playing, writing, recording and singing music, so that would be a year off in itself for me.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

Vincent Victor Oath: make stickers, and give them away. Getting getting your band name and logo familiarized in your local area is a great way to start. Use social media outlets every day. If you don’t keep up, people won’t care. Email and contact anybody or any business that you can help and that can help you. Play some free shows, hearing your music in person is great promotion.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

Vincent Victor Oath: We are releasing our first full length album, “Diverse Reality” during the summer. This will be our biggest milestone yet, followed by a east coast tour.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

Vincent Victor Oath: There’s a big chance that I wouldn’t be here today if I didn’t find my love for music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

Vincent Victor Oath: With a lot of rest, and a lot of perseverance. I’m always busy and must be that way at all times, so two projects and a job is perfect for me. Keep a positive outlook, and you should ultimately be fine.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

Vincent Victor Oath: For 2016, we have our album “Diverse Reality” coming out this summer, and we also have a tour that is currently in the works, so make sure to look out for our name. We’d love to meet every single person out there. 2016 has been an incredible year for us, and we can’t wait to announce more exciting things as we go later into this year.
