Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?

 

Diverse Marley: I grew up on the south side of Chicago. Music was always an outlet for me so becoming an artist was a given!

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Diverse Marley: Diverse is what defines me as an artist and overall person. The Marley is a lifestyle. Being happy, loving everyone and believing in Devine intervention.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Diverse Marley: online music sharing is a gr at way for up and coming artist to get their music heard, especially on the proper platform. Everything I release is free. Simply because streaming is on the start of something much bigger. As an artist I have to give the fans a piece of me for free if I ever expect to make any money in the future.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Diverse Marley:  keep faith in yourself and your endeavors. Nothing is impossible. Make sure to create quality music and more importantly network with the right people to get your music spread to the masses.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Diverse Marley: I gather inspiration from life in general. May not be something I experienced but something one of my peers has. My process is simple, create from the imagination. However it comes out is how it was meant.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Diverse Marley:  www.diversemusik.com is my domain but I use Facebook, Twitter & Instagram to promote my music. Reaches the people faster and more direct.

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

 

Diverse Marley: I would start an entertainment label and help develop other artist from Chicago. All investments, no splurging!

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Diverse Marley: Research. You have to research different marketing strategies in order to find one that works for you. What works for me is building relationships with blogs, djs, hosts, etc and getting my music into their hands.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Diverse Marley: I just released my single Casa Mamita on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/diversemarley7/diverse-marley-casa-mamita and I’m currently working on my EP entitled Prolly High.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Diverse Marley: Shooting videos and doing graphic design. Those are some of my other professions outside of music.

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Diverse Marley: patience. It’s a virtue. Having patience helps me through any situation. Patience and persistence.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Diverse Marley: after Casa Mamita, more singles and soon following my EP. Prolly High will be one for the books.
