Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become a producer?

 

Centric: Well, I’ve always had a passion for music. I was known for beat-boxing in high school so once I was introduced to production equipment there was no turning back.

 

Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?

 

Centric: Initially the name was “Eccentric” because I felt that described my music best.

After like a year I started to feel that “Centric” was a little less cliche and a little more

catchy…so I ran with that.

Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?

 

Centric: Personally it doesn’t bother me like it does other musicians. At the end of the day I just want to make great music that the public appreciates whether they purchase it or download it for free. I do however believe that if you truly support an artist you should purchase their music.

Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?

Centric: I would say find yourself a booking agent and a few others to represent you. Most venues or Dj’s are hesitant these days about excepting music directly from artists or bands. Sometimes having that middle man can look very professional. Other than that I would say hit all the outlets you can find. It can be very hard, but if your music is great your half way there.

 

Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?

 

Centric: Being a producer I’m rarely deep inside the songwriting process. When I am involved I usually find inspiration from the music itself. Hearing the music first will usually take your mind places that can trigger the pen to move.

Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?

 

Centric: We have www.FREEATLASTMUSICGROUP.com, which is a website about my entire music group and label “FreeAtLastMusic”. I’m also apart of a Hip-Hop duo called “Grand Opus”. Our website is www.GRANDOPUSCA.com.

 

Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?

Centric: Honestly…I wouldn’t spend it at all. I would throw it all in the savings account and spend that year working on music and traveling.

Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?

 

Centric:  I have an awesome team of promoters I’ve been working with for years. They have connections to all the biggest sites and bloggers online. I also have a small street team that push my music locally. Whenever I need music promoted I’m usually in pretty good hands.

Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?

 

Centric: I have some big radio singles coming this year, and a “Centric Produced” compilation project I’m working on. I’m pretty sure Joc & I will be dropping another “Grand Opus” album sometime next year.

Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?

 

Centric: I would probably be in a mental institution going crazy because I wasn’t making music. Hahaha

Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?

 

Centric: That’s a great question, and honestly I have no idea. I do have quite a few responsibilities, however my music will always be number one in my life. When I get married music might take a VERY small back seat, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?

 

Centric: A ton of great music produced by me! That is all. (Drops Mic)
