My names are Derek “JBryte” Ajibola, I was born April the 10th, am a Nigerian singer, songwriter. I do Afro R&B music More so I like to versatile on beats lately. Am from ogun state, south western part of Nigeria. I attended university of lagos, I studied philosophy. My hobbies; writing, dancing, singing, drawing, travelling and I love watching and playing soccer
I started singing since i was a little kid but started professionally in my 4th year in secondary school. I was influenced by Michael Jackson, Fela Kuti, Bob Nesta Marley, Femi Kuti, Hugh Masekela, and Usher Raymond, Mario, among
I was part of the campaign of the world health organizations (W.H.O) As an ambassador and UNICEF Aids Awareness.
I got awards back in the University days. Got a lot of awards in school.
I have had opportunity to work with a lot of artistes in the game in and off the shores of the country and also music producers, music video directors like Fliptyce, Sarz, Dreybeatz

currently I am working with my producers, Fliptyce, Papi J, Dreybeatz at the moment, recording and dropping a new single featuring Ketchup. and also working on the video as well.
I released my last official single last both audio and the video last year song titled “follow” the song was produced by a Ghanaian producer Sandaz Black and Video was directed by Paul Gambit and I recently dropped a remix version of Rihanna’s work ft Drake titled “CHOP” earlier this month.
I’d say my achievement so far is been able to get this far, and been able to get attentions of some of the top guns In the game like Psquare, the game and my darling fans…. They inspire me a lot and they are a family to me.
Exposed Vocals: So tell us your story. Where did you grow up? What made you decide to become an artist?
My names are Derek AJibola “JBryte” am from Nigeria, south western part precisely, Ogun state
I was born on the 10th of April. I studied philosophy at the university of Lagos. I started music professionally back in my 4th year in high school although I started singing since I was a lil kid. I’d sing and beat the table in class and entertain my friends. I would sing Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s songs. Michael Jackson, Usher Raymond, Angelie Kidjo, Celine Dion, Sisqo and many others. Coz they inspire me while growing up as a kid. And most particular the joy their sounds individually gives me is beyond words And also would dance to Sisqo’s songs.
I grew up in Lagos Nigeria. I am the 1st child of my mum and I have a younger brother. Although I come from a polygamous family.
I decided to become an artiste because of the love I have for music, it was and is a hobby for me. Music gives energy, it’s an adrenaline to me. I never get tired of singing, freestyling and writing.
Exposed Vocals: How did you come up with that name? What was your inspiration behind it?
I came up with the name J’Bryte when I was going out with my ex girlfriend way back and she said that I was bright. my name is Jibola, the short form of Jibola is “J” and also changed the normal spelling of bright to “Bryte” so we merged J and Bryte together. And that’s how I came up with the name J’Bryte
Exposed Vocals: What do you think about online music sharing? Do you ever give your music away for free? Why?
Online music sharing is a great platform for every artiste, everyone in this generation.
It’s a very big opportunity and avenue to get heard. It never use to be like this. When there was no internet, and online streaming companies, blogs, blogs. It brings the world together
Exposed Vocals: Since everyone was a start-up once, can you give any smaller or local bands or artists looking to get gigs and airplay some tips?
It’s not easy starting up, but with a lot of patience, smart work, focus and prayers nothing is impossible, you can be the best that you can be. There are no limits at all. All need do is to set your priorities right. And build your talent, sharpen your skills and you’d never be dissapointed.
Exposed Vocals: Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration? What is your usual songwriting process?
I gather inspiration from my everyday experience in life, and moreso everything inspires me. Everything!
Exposed Vocals: Do you have a band website? What online platforms do you use to share your music?
Yea I do have a personal blog
I upload my songs, and I also have my songs on soundcloud, MTVAfrica website, Notjustok and many more,
Exposed Vocals: If you were given half a million dollars and a year off, what would you do? How would you spend it?
I would invest it in my clothing line, my merchandise company and also tap into other untouched resources and other areas of business I always dreamt of delving into future. For instance; Charity, support the less privileged ones. Most especially the homeless and also Housing Estates & properties.
Exposed Vocals: How do you find ways to promote your music? What works best for you?
I put them online, YouTube, soundcloud, Reverbnation, Notjustok.com and many more and also get them on radio, tv stations.
Exposed Vocals: So, what’s next? Any new upcoming projects that you want to talk about?
Yes, currently back in the studio recording, and I have my official single dropping in the month of April and other activities would be unveiled as time goes later this year.
Exposed Vocals: If you weren’t making music, what would you be doing?
I would be a footballer.
Exposed Vocals: How do you juggle the rest of your responsibilities while trying to stay ahead in your music life?
I love multi tasking naturally, so I find it easy combining all together.
Exposed Vocals: What should fans look forward to in 2016?
It’s going to be an exciting year, because I will be dropping my first mixtape and more official singles and music videos.
